The Rejected Luna (Avery and Kaden) novel Chapter 47

**Between Then and Now by Mark Twain**

**Chapter 16**

**Alpha King Julian’s POV**

**Epilogue**

Eighteen years have passed in the blink of an eye, and I find it almost surreal to realize that my triplets have reached adulthood, fully embracing their wolf forms. Time has a way of slipping through one’s fingers, and yet here we are, standing on the precipice of a new chapter in our lives.

Our son, Jax, has transformed into a striking midnight black wolf, his fur shimmering like the night sky. He has already discovered his mate, a bond that fills him with purpose and excitement as he prepares to step into the role of the next Alpha. I can see the determination in his eyes, a reflection of the strength that runs through our lineage.

My daughters, Jenna and Joelle, are equally breathtaking, their coats a brilliant white that seems to glow under the moonlight. Each has found her own Alpha mate, and I can’t help but feel a swell of pride as I watch them navigate their new lives, their spirits intertwined with those they love.

As I glance at my beautiful mate, who is now carrying our twins, a wave of warmth washes over me. Her presence brings a light to my life that I never knew I needed. I can’t help but smile, the corners of my mouth lifting as I think of the journey we’ve taken together. Despite the trials and tribulations, I am profoundly grateful for this incredible life we have built.

My mate endured so much pain, and I am thankful that I could be by her side to help her heal, to help her reclaim her strength. Some may have dismissed her as unworthy, as if she were nothing more than discarded trash, but to me, she is the most precious treasure I could ever possess.

Family means everything to me. I will love them fiercely and endlessly, no matter what challenges we may face.

**The End.**

**Chapter 1**

It all began because my five-year-old twin daughters had unintentionally hurt the feelings of my Alpha mate’s first love. In a fit of misguided rage, he decided to send the girls to The Obedience Den—the most brutal correctional camp within our entire pack.

The instructors, fierce and unyielding, stormed into our packhouse at my Alpha’s command, their faces set in grim determination as they dragged my daughters away. My heart shattered as I watched them cling desperately to the doorframe, their little bodies trembling as they sobbed and screamed for their father.

Desperation clawed at me, and I fell to my knees, my voice cracking with anguish as I begged for mercy.

“They’re just five years old—just innocent pups! Sending them there will break them! I’m their mother! If anyone deserves punishment, it’s me! I’m the one who failed to teach them!”

Yet, Blake stood there, his arm wrapped protectively around Hannah, his first love, an icy indifference etched on his face as he observed our suffering.

“If you hadn’t spoiled them, they wouldn’t have turned out so insolent! I am their father, and if you can’t discipline them, then I will! Do you truly believe I would harm my own flesh and blood?”

The next day, as Sierra and I arrived at The Obedience Den, a sense of dread washed over me. The sight that greeted us was unbearable—my daughters, their small bodies marred with bruises, their tiny chests eerily still.

Gone.

And what was Blake doing? He was celebrating with the pack, reveling in the joy that Hannah was now pregnant with his child.

My vision blurred, and I turned to Sierra, my voice hollow and devoid of hope.

“They’re gone. I have nothing left. Please… just let me go. I don’t want anything to do with your brother anymore.”

By the time they brought my daughters to the werewolf hospital, it was far too late. They didn’t even make it to the emergency room; instead, they were taken directly to the morgue.

“Lena, you disgust me.”

The line went dead before I could respond.

The phone had been on speaker, and every cruel syllable had reached Sierra’s ears.

Her face drained of color, her lips quivered, but no words came forth—she seemed lost, as if the ability to console had been stripped away.

I forced a smile, but tears streamed down my cheeks like falling stars, each drop a testament to my heartbreak.

“Please. I have nothing left. Just… let me go. I can’t endure this anymore.”

Before Sierra could reply, two werewolf detectives approached us, their expressions grave.

“Are you the family of the deceased? The staff at The Obedience Den have been detained. We’ll need your cooperation in the investigation.”

In the holding area, I caught sight of them—the so-called instructors who had torn my daughters from our loving home.

Something inside me shattered.

A scream erupted from my throat as I lunged at them, my claws unsheathed, my grief roaring like a wildfire.

“You monsters! You heartless beasts! They were only five years old! How could you?! HOW DARE YOU?!”
