Chapter 5
“Excuse me, is Ms. Montgomery the one who called the police?”
I nodded. “Yes, that’s me.”
The officer pulled out an arrest warrant and turned toward Zoe, who was standing behind him.
“Zoe, you’re under arrest for intentional assault and extortion. Please cooperate and come with us for
further investigation.”
Zoe’s face instantly drained of color.
She screamed in terror, clinging to Blake’s arm as if it were her last lifeline.
“Blake! Help me! I don’t want to go to the police station!”
“Blake, tell them it’s a misunderstanding! It’s all a misunderstanding!”
Blake’s face turned ashen.
His girlfriend was about to be taken away by the police in front of all his friends.
This was more humiliating than a slap in the face.
He turned abruptly, his teeth clenched, and said in a low, almost snarling voice, “Sophia, do you really have to
make this so final?”
I stared coldly at him, silent.
He took a deep breath, turned to the police, and forced a smile.
“Officer, this is a misunderstanding. It’s all a misunderstanding.”
“This is my sister, and this is my girlfriend. They have a little disagreement, but I’ve already spoken to Zoe
about it.”
As he spoke, he tried to block Zoe with his body.
“Look, it’s late. Let’s just handle our family matters privately.”
Then, he turned back to me, his voice pleading, nearly begging.
“Sophia, can you do me a favor?”
“Let the officers leave first, and we can talk about this at home.”
He thought I’d cave in, like I always had before, for the sake of his ridiculous “pride.”
He thought I’d still care about the so-called “sibling bond” we shared.

But he didn’t know that when I was locked in that filthy, smelly storage room, beaten and bruised, any shred of that bond had already been worn away.
I looked at him, and said to the officer word by word, “Officer, this isn’t a misunderstanding.”
“The injuries on my body are documented in the hospital’s injury report.”
“She extorted one million from me, and there’s a bank transfer record.”
“I demand that this be handled immediately, according to the law.”
My words landed like a sharp slap across Blake’s face.
His expression froze in an instant. Shock, disbelief, and then sheer humiliation replaced his pleading.
The officers ignored his attempts to stop them and stepped forward. One of them slapped the handcuffs on
Zoe, who was still screaming.
“Let go of me! Do you know who I am? My boyfriend is Blake Montgomery!”
“Blake! Save me! Blake!”
Zoe was dragged out of the villa by two officers, crying and struggling.
Her frantic screams echoed through the dead silence of the living room, cutting through the stillness with a
jarring intensity.
He froze in place, like a statue.
All his friends watched with a complex mixture of sympathy, ridicule, and amusement.
In that moment, I shattered his pride and crushed it beneath my feet.
Finally, after Zoe’s cries faded away, Blake suddenly turned around.
His once-clear eyes were now bloodshot, filled with towering anger and resentment.
“Sophia!”
He roared at me, his voice hoarse and distorted with fury.
“Are you happy now?!”
“Is it that you can’t stand to see me happy? Can’t stand to see me have people close to me?!”
“You called the cops to arrest my girlfriend, for an outsider?! Are you insane?!”
He jabbed his finger at me, accusing me, as if I were the one guilty of the greatest crime.
The air around us was unnervingly still.

Those spoiled rich kids, who usually acted like close friends with Blake, didn’t dare to speak up for him now.
Those whose families were better off knew, at least vaguely, that the true head of the Blake family was me.
As his older sister, standing here now, seemingly frail, I could make Blake fear me to the core.
I listened in silence as he ranted, untouched by emotion, even feeling somewhat exhausted.
I regretted all the years I had dedicated to him.
When he finally ran out of steam, panting and gasping, I raised my hand.
Slap!
A sharp, crisp slap rang out, echoing through the entire room.

Chapter 6
I put everything I had into it, and Blake’s face snapped to the side. A clear handprint rapidly appeared on his
face.
He was stunned, as was everyone else.
He covered his face, staring at me in disbelief, the anger in his eyes quickly turning into humiliation.
“You… you hit me?”
“I slapped some sense into you.”
My voice was as cold as ice.
I scanned the room, taking in the silent onlookers, before my eyes landed back on Blake.
“You all think he’s the master here, the heir of the Montgomery family, right?”
No one dared speak.
I let out a light laugh, but there was no humor in it.
“Blake, is that what you’ve always believed?”
“Do you think you were born to have everything? This villa, the cars outside, the shares in the company, and the unlimited black card I gave you?”
He didn’t speak, but his defiant stare said it all.
“Have you ever wondered why?”
“Why, even though Dad favored you more, he left 90% of the company shares to me?”
“Why I had to act like your mother, clearing the path for you, solving every problem you caused, letting you get away with anything, without boundaries?”
He froze, caught off guard.
Maybe those questions had crossed his mind, but he had always just accepted everything as it was, never thinking twice.
Watching his confused and humiliated face, I finally decided to reveal the cruel truth I had kept hidden from
him for over a decade.
“Because you don’t actually carry the Montgomery name.”
“You’re just the mistake my father made years ago.”
“Your mother is a woman who doesn’t even deserve to have her name recorded in the Montgomery family
tree.”

“You, Blake Montgomery, are an illegitimate child.”
I said these words calmly, but they hit like a thunderclap, shattering the silence of the living room.
Blake’s face froze.
It was as though he had heard the most outlandish, impossible thing. His pupils dilated, his mouth slightly agape, staring at me in shock.
“What… what did you just say?”
“I said,” I repeated, each word sharp and clear, “you’re an illegitimate child.”
“When Dad brought you home, you were just three. Grandpa almost had a heart attack and wanted to throw you and your mom out.”
“It was me.”
I pointed at myself.
“I was the one who kneeled before Grandpa, begging him to let you stay.”
“I told him that the child is innocent.”
“I promised him I’d look after you, raise you, and never let you bring shame to the Montgomery family.”
“To make sure you could live here with legitimacy, to keep you from bearing the mark of an illegitimate child from the start, I begged Dad and Grandpa to hide your true identity from everyone.”
like my own brother, giving you the best of everything, making up for the motherly love you
ging you in everything.”
I thought, if I filled your life with love and material things, you would grow into a kind, upright, and
responsible person.”
I looked at his twisted face, filled with shock and fear, and let out a self-deprecating laugh.
“Turns out, I was wrong.”
“I was ridiculously wrong.”
“I didn’t raise a brother. I raised an ungrateful monster.”
Blake staggered backward a few steps, bumping into the coffee table with a muffled thud.
hook his head repeatedly, mumbling to himself, “No… no way… you’re lying… this is all bullshit!”
I’m lying or not, you can ask Dad when you get home.”
looked at him coldly, crushing the last bit of hope he had.
