The Rejected Principessa Returns novel Chapter 82

# Chapter 7

“Alexander! Do you realize what you’ve done? You killed her!”

Alexander froze, caught completely off guard, just as he was about to snap back.

Ethan hurled a death report into his chest, eyes burning with rage and disbelief.

“Do you even know how much she suffered before she died?!”

“Everyone knew Grace was terrified of heights, and you still made her ride the Drop Tower! Alexander, are you even human?”

“Because of that ride, her fear triggered premature labor. The wrong position, the wrong strain, she tore five centimeters down there!”

“She lost so much blood afterward that, by the time of the autopsy, her body was practically drained dry. Before she died, she was trying to protect your child.”

“But she’d injured her right hand years ago saving you, she couldn’t even hold on! All she could do was watch as the baby died right in front of her. Do you know how hopeless she must’ve felt in that moment?”

“Alexander, you bastard! Grace did everything for you! She even saved your life! She stayed with you when you hit rock bottom, rebuilt everything beside you, bore your children! She was your wife! How could you do this to her for that woman Lila?”

The words hit Alexander like blows. His expression went from confusion to dazed disbelief.

“What did you say? Old injury? What injury?”

He racked his brain, but nothing came up. When did she ever hurt her hand saving me?

Ethan’s voice trembled with anger. “We grew up together, all of us. Everyone could tell Grace liked you the

moment she transferred to our class.”

“That day your mother tried to jump off the roof with you, it was Grace who risked her life to pull you back. She was so small then, but she held on for half an hour! When you two were finally rescued, her right hand was completely shattered!”

“And what did you do after that? You turned right around and started dating Lila!”

“When Lila left, I thought you’d finally realized Grace’s worth. I never imagined you’d be the one to kill her!”

Ethan grabbed my right hand and thrust it in front of Alexander’s face.

Even after all these years, the scar around my wrist was still shocking to look at, the one I got from dragging Alexander off that rooftop, the rough wall tearing through my skin.

The more Ethan spoke, the angrier he got, until finally he swung and punched Alexander hard in the face before storming out, slamming the door behind him.

#Chapter 7

Alexander didn’t move. He just stood there, stunned, not even reacting to the hit. His brows furrowed deeper and deeper.

He remembered that day.

His mother had dragged him to the rooftop. He’d been drowning in despair, swallowed whole by darkness.

Then, at the very last second, a pair of soft but unyielding hands had grabbed him.

He’d been too drugged with sleeping pills to even open his eyes. Just when he thought he’d fall, a gentle voice kept whispering, urging him not to give up.

So he’d held on. With the last shred of strength he had left, he’d clung to those hands.

When he woke up in the hospital, Lila was sitting beside his bed.

And so, of course, he’d thought it was her.

She’d smiled vaguely, neither confirming nor denying it, and he’d chosen to believe what he wanted, that the

one who’d saved him was Lila.

A girl who wasn’t afraid to die for him, that became his light in the darkness.

From that moment on, no matter how cruel or manipulative Lila became, he convinced himself she had her

reasons. He forgave everything.

Even if it meant destroying me.

Now he stood there, staring blankly at my lifeless body.

If that really was me, then what about the baby…?

He couldn’t let himself think about it. Couldn’t bear the truth.

No, he told himself. This was all fake. I had to be faking it, colluding with everyone, trying to make him pay.

He’d find the truth himself.

But every investigation he did only proved the opposite.

Everything he uncovered contradicted the lies he’d built to protect himself.

He’d always thought my sudden return was just opportunism, that I’d come back because the Hayes family

was weak.

To him, I was nothing more than a business partner.

His heart had belonged to Lila from start to finish.

He’d never really loved me.

But now, hearing the truth from Ethan’s mouth, his whole world collapsed.

He stumbled back to our house, dazed.

The butler glanced behind him. “Sir, Mrs. Hayes hasn’t returned yet? The delivery crew for the crib just

arrived, but we don’t know which room she wanted it in. We were hoping to ask her.”

“And Mrs. Hayes mentioned she’d be going on maternity leave soon. She said to give Mrs. Wilson the recipe

for your hangover soup.”

“Sir… I know you’ve always been distant with her, but she truly loved you. She’s been nothing but kind to all of

  1. Whatever happened with Miss Monroe, she didn’t mean for it to turn out that way. She’s still carrying your

child…”

Alexander stared at him, eyes red and lost.

Ever since Lila’s return, all he’d heard were stories about how cruel, jealous, and manipulative I was, how I

schemed against his beloved Lila.

In his mind, I was small-minded and vindictive.

But now, hearing the butler’s words, seeing the way everyone else remembered me… that version of me didn’t

match.

Only now did he realize, I had always been quietly there for him.

Even when he ignored me. Even when he looked at another woman.

I had still made sure everything in his world stayed in order. Still thought of him first.

He said nothing as he climbed the stairs to the second floor.
