He’d clearly come here to acquire them, yet somehow, The Lennox was now the one trying to acquire him.
“If you’re not willing, that’s fine by us. We’ll just open a branch right across from the Millers‘ hotel,” Nicole said smoothly.
Jake was also watching Daren with a grin that never reached his eyes.
They’d both seen crystal clear the way this old man had just been ogling Cassia.
“Don’t push people too far!” Daren roared, his beard trembling as if he might cough up blood.
A branch of The Lennox directly opposite the Miller hotel?
Their hotel was already barely breaking even–throw in competition like that, and they’d be hemorrhaging money in no time, closing their doors before long.
“How exactly am I pushing you? Zrario doesn’t belong to the Millers. We can open a place wherever we want.” Jake bounced his leg, swaggering. “If that bothers you so much, feel free to open a hotel right across from us. We won’t complain one bit.”
Daren was so furious he could practically taste old blood in his throat.
Open a hotel opposite The Lennox?
With The Lennox on one side and Atelier Zraric on the other, only someone kicked in the head by a mule would try that.
Like Cassia had said earlier, the food here was good–especially their signature free–range chicken soup,
which really was on another level,
As insulting and hard to swallow as that sounded, he had to admit it was the truth.
Opening a hotel across from The Lennox–how was that any different from suicide?
“Mr. Miller, our patience isn’t unlimited. So, pick one, sell us your hotel at five times market price, or wait for us to build a branch right opposite yours,” Jake said, looking straight at
Daren.
The Millers were used to bullying others–being bullied in return was not something they could stomach.

Chapter 250 Daren’s Confusion
Daren jabbed a finger at Nicole and Jake, fuming “You two are outrageous!!”

“You’re wrong, Mr. Miller.” Jake lounged against the doorway, cocky as ever. “We’re just drowning in cash and running out of ways to spend it.”
Then, he added, “Correction–it’s our boss who has too much money and nowhere to put it.”
The more Jake strutted around like a smug street punk, the more Daren’s liver seemed to ache with rage.
Daren shifted his gaze to Cassia, his old eyes darkening as his tone softened a notch. “You know them?”
Before Cassia could answer, he continued, “We may not be related by blood, but your father has already introduced you to my grandson. I’m willing to let you marry into the Millers and take our family name. You’ll get benefits by the truckload–no downsides.”
Vrastin—an international capital–was nothing like a small city such as Zrario!
In Daren’s mind, a girl like Cassia would be desperate to marry into a powerhouse family, especially the Miller Group headquartered in Vrastin. And as a daughter, she’d surely obey whatever Vance arranged.
On top of that, he’d already noticed that The Lennox’s owner and Jake, the syndicate boss, both seemed close to Cassia. If she married his grandson, they could sweet–talk her a bit and get her to mediate with Nicole and Jake—maybe then the deal could still turn around.
Cassia frowned, clearly annoyed.
Vance had actually set up a match for her without even talking to her first.
And who were the Millers supposed to be, exactly? Marry Ryder? If she remembered correctly, Ryder already had a wife.
What kind of sick joke was that?
He wasn’t even worth the effort of a proper response.
With that thought, Cassia didn’t spare Daren so much as a glance—she simply turned and walked away.
“You stop right there!” Daren shouted after her.
Cassia kept walking, as if she hadn’t heard a thing.
“Stop! You little brat, you-” Daren started forward to chase her, but Jake blocked him after just one step.

“Daren, I’ve changed my mind. I’ll acquire your hotel for less than five times market value. If you refuse, we’ll break ground on a branch directly opposite your hotel tomorrow. And I’m planning to open another branch right under the Miller Group headquarters, Nicole said, face dark.
“This is so that you can feel sick to your stomach every time you see our sign,” Jake added.
Even without Jake, Nicole alone had more than enough clout to make good on every word.
Daren’s vision went dark; he nearly blacked out on the spot.
“I–I don’t have a grudge against you, do I?” Daren finally realized Nicole and Jake were going after him on purpose.
“Right. You and I have no personal beef–but you messed with Cassia,” Nicole said.
“Exactly. You picked a fight with Cassia!” Jake echoed.
Because of Cassia?!
Daren was shaken to his core.
He’d originally thought Cassia merely knew them–but the CEO of the international Seer Group and an underground kingpin feared across the streets were really doing all this for a girl he’d always considered insignificant?
What he couldn’t wrap his head around was this: Nicole and Jake were anything but ordinary -one an international CEO and hotel owner, the other a man who could stir up storms in the underworld with a flick of his wrist. How on earth had Cassia gotten tangled up with people like them?
