Chapter 853 She’s Got Mr Abraham Now
The moment she believed that the man from that night was Derrick, she had no idea how to describe what
she felt.
Her whole body went numb.
She couldn’t even begin to think about what she had done.
“It wasn’t- it was you! Why are you running?” Marie exploded.
At those words, Derrick’s face darkened.
Flashes of memory hit him–Sebastian, Drax, and Ashley dragging him away that night…
Even then, as a man, walking away in that kind of situation wasn’t something he should’ve done.
Derrick suddenly grabbed Marie and kissed her, silencing her furious demand. But Marie, consumed by anger, was ready to fight him.
He wrapped his arms tightly around her. “Don’t move.”
“You trash!” Marie spat.
That time, she was truly furious; she bit his lip hard.
Meanwhile, things were just as chaotic on Tessa’s side. She got a call from Stella.
“Wait–did you say Ethan told you that news?” Stella asked.
“Yeah. Is it true?”
“Yes,” Stella replied calmly. “I’ve already arranged for someone to handle it. Don’t worry.”
Tessa sighed. “Okay, that’s good.”
“One more thing,” Stella added. “Stay away from the Morris family for now; just do as your aunt says.”
After warning Tessa about the Ashen Pact, Stella didn’t ask another word about Ethan.
Tessa agreed quietly.
By now, she already had a pretty good grasp of what the Ashen Pact was about.
It was different from before; back when she was at Rivermount, life had been too comfortable, and she hadn’t known how to deal with things.
But now, it was different.
She would listen to her mother–about everything.
After hanging up on Stella, her phone rang again. It was Ethan.

Tessa picked up. “You don’t have to worry about her anymore; she has Mr. Abraham by her side.”
Ethan fell silent.
Those words seemed to drain something out of him.
Tessa said curtly, “That’s all. I’m hanging up.”
She was about to end the call when Ethan stopped her. “Is she… doing well lately?”
“With Mr. Abraham loving her the way he does, how could she not be?”
Ethan’s voice was heavy with loneliness.
Tessa listened, unmoved. “Don’t feel sorry for yourself. You’re the one who ruined your chance with her.”
When Stella returned to the Reed family, her world had already been in chaos–torn between the Dawsons in Falvaria and dealing with Lillian’s schemes.
If Ethan, her fiancé at the time, had shown her even a little kindness…. maybe those three years would’ve ended differently. Maybe she would’ve married him.
But sadly, Ethan had been blinded by Lillian back then.
Ethan let out a bitter laugh. “You think I ruined my chance with her?”
Why did it feel like there had never been any chance to begin with?
Even if he’d treated her well, she still wouldn’t have married him.
He had already seen the way she felt about Abraham during their time in Rivermount; it had been plain as day.
Tessa said softly, “None of that matters now, does it?”
For once, she humored him with a few words–something Stella hadn’t done in a long time. Stella had cut him off completely, cold as ice.
“You told her that Reese’s matter came from me?” Ethan asked.
Tessa knew exactly why he was asking. “Yeah, I told her.”
But even after knowing, Stella hadn’t called him once–not to ask, not to confirm anything.
She had handled everything on her own, arranged every detail; not a single call.
Whatever they’d had between them was completely, irreversibly severed. It was as if she had never existed in his world at all.
