883 Nobody Hit Derrick

“Pardon? What the heck?” Sebastian snapped.

Andy let out a low whistle. “That had to be Maric, right?”

Sebastian fell silent.

Andy snorted. “Serves you right! You’re Derrick’s brother; if Derrick didn’t get beaten, then you’re the one who should’ve been beaten into the hospital for half a month!”

Hearing Sebastian’s drained, defeated tone suddenly made Andy feel a lot better. At least it wasn’t just their side taking the hits.

Same incident, same consequences–things should be fair.

But Sebastian, already furious, almost exploded when Andy said he deserved to spend a month in the hospital.

“You’ve lost your damn mind,” he shot back. Couldn’t the guy wish him something good for once? Why did I even bother knowing people like this?

“Yeah, I’m crazy,” Andy said flatly. “Crazy because of you! You saw how hard she beat us that night–why didn’t you say anything?”

“That’s my brother,” Sebastian said coldly. “You expect me to help you? Who even are you?”

The ice in his tone made Andy’s face twitch.

“Yeah, real helpful of you,” Andy snapped. “Now look at you–half–dead already!”

“Who the heck told you I got beaten up?” Sebastian shot back, his temper flaring.

Half–dead? Hospitalized for a month? Even with his patience, Sebastian was about ready to lose

Andy scoffed. “No one had to tell me. Obviously you were beaten!”

If he wasn’t, why did he sound so weak?

Sebastian gritted his teeth. “Sorry to disappoint you, but I wasn’t beaten. Too bad, huh? Guess Marie should’ve finished you off instead.”

“Please,” he added with a bitter laugh, “the unlucky ones are you guys. You were the punching bags she used to vent her anger.”

He’d been stewing all night, furious about Marie’s punishment, and Andy’s timing was perfect -he got the full blast of it.

Andy froze. His mind spun.

“Wait–what did you just say? You weren’t beaten either?”

Andy thought. You’ve got to be kidding me.

Derrick hadn’t been hit–fine, that was already ridiculous enough–but now Sebastian too?

“I didn’t get hit,” Sebastian said bluntly. “Only you idiots did. You took the fall for everyone.”

Andy was speechless. This was insane.

On the other end, Dan–who’d been listening to the call–heard everything. Rage burned up his chest. Unbelievable… Derrick isn’t taking a single hit, and neither is anyone around him. That damned woman Marie–so Derrick gets a free pass because of his bloodline. Fine. But why does everyone near him walk away untouched.

Hearing that even Sebastian hadn’t been touched, both Dan and Andy nearly lost it.

Their blood pressure shot through the roof.

Andy, clenching his jaw, forced himself to ask, “She didn’t punish you at all?”

Dan’s face darkened by the second. Both of them were desperate to hear something—any miserable detail that might make them feel better.

They’d suffered enough already; they needed a little balance.

And then-

“She punished me,” Sebastian said.

“What kind of punishment?”

The moment those words left his mouth, Andy and Dan both perked up, instantly alert.

Finally! Maybe now they’d hear something satisfying.

But then Sebastian dropped the bomb, “She made me walk forty miles through the mountains.”

Silence.

Andy froze. Dan froze.
