Chapter 933 The Half–Sibling
His gaze on Marie grew even more serious.

“Now that Marie is here, this house doesn’t need me. Let her take over. I’m sure she’ll manage it just fine.”
That phrase, “manage it just fine,” immediately reminded everyone of the chaos that had plagued the Tom family for the past two days.
Manage what?
It wasn’t a question of managing well or poorly; Marie hadn’t managed anything.
Since taking over the household, she hadn’t done a single thing.
And not only that, but the entire Tom family was in an uproar because of her.
Holt’s face darkened at Mona’s words. These last two days had been incredibly uncomfortable for him. He hadn’t eaten well, hadn’t slept well… even the tea he’d drunk for years tasted different.
He was told Marie had changed it, claiming they had to “save money” in this economy.
Marie: “Leaving? Oh, that’s great! A house is for family. Why would there be room for an outsider?”
Mona: “You…”
Holt: “You, shut up!”
Gary, who had been silent, finally exploded. “Marie, don’t go too far!”
“Oh, right. Are you family, or an outsider?”
Gary: “You… what nonsense are you talking? You woman…”
Mona was stomping mad. “Holt!”
Marie: “Oh, by the way… do you happen to have a half–sister or a half–brother… from your mother’s side?”
Mona: “…”

The hand that had been pointing and trembling at Marie a moment ago turned to stone. Her pupils constricted as she stared at Marie.
Her breathing grew ragged, her heart pounding uncontrollably.
Marie watched her reaction, raising an eyebrow. “Why are you looking at me like that? Is it true?”
Holt turned to look at Mona.
Gary erupted. “Marie, you bitch! You just won’t be happy until you’ve destroyed this family, will you?”
He grabbed the ashtray and threw it straight at Marie.
Derrick, who was right beside her, moved like lightning. He caught the ashtray mid–air.
With a flick of his wrist, the ashtray slammed back into Gary’s forehead.
Gary grunted in pain, clutching his ringing head, speechless.
Instantly, the house was in chaos again.
Mona pointed at Marie. “You… you are… you are just too much…”
“You just can’t tolerate me? Is it because I’m the one disrupting the peace of this house?” Mona shrieked.
Holt’s head was throbbing.
But Marie wasn’t finished. She ignored Mona’s melodramatic accusation. “He won’t answer. You
answer!”
Mona: “What… what more do you want me to say?”
“All those trips to Hamlin these past two years. Was it to see an illegitimate child over there?”
Hearing this, Holt’s heart leaped into his throat.
Marie huffed. “Don’t blame me for digging. This concerns my husband’s share of the Tom family’s inheritance.”
“Even if the child isn’t Dad’s, your share of Dad’s assets… oh, wait. Dad never married you.”
The atmosphere in the living room grew even heavier.
