The Returned Heiress Who Never Fit In novel Chapter 947

**TITLE: She Took 947**
**Chapter 947 What Do You See in Him**

The kinder Victor had been, the more the weight of the truth must have crushed him beneath its heavy burden. It was a cruel twist of fate that those who showed the most compassion often ended up bearing the deepest scars.

“Finished,” he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper, as if the word itself was a finality he couldn’t quite accept.

“There’s no need to do it,” Tessa interjected, her voice steady but laced with frustration. “Even if a paternity report claims he’s my father, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s not. My mom made that abundantly clear, and yet he still chooses to ignore it…” Her words trailed off, the weight of her emotions hanging heavy in the air.

Silence enveloped them, thick and uncomfortable. Tessa’s heart raced, a mix of anger and sadness swirling within her. She felt trapped in a situation that seemed to spiral further out of control with every breath.

Victor, sensing her turmoil, reached out and took her hand gently. “Let’s go,” he said, his tone firm yet reassuring.

Relief washed over Tessa. Since she had made it clear that she was unwilling to undergo a paternity test, she felt a newfound sense of security. No one would dare touch a single hair on her head today; she was resolute.

Lewis, ever the shadow, trailed behind them, his footsteps echoing in the tense silence.

Victor glanced back, a hint of irritation flickering in his eyes. “What?” he asked, his patience wearing thin.

“I haven’t eaten either!” Lewis exclaimed, his voice rising in protest.

“Go eat wherever you want!” Victor shot back, his expression souring at the thought of Lewis’s incessant chatter.

Lewis’s face fell, disappointment etching itself into his features.

Silas, who had been observing the exchange with a mix of amusement and exasperation, grabbed Lewis by the arm, trying to steer him away. This guy really wasn’t the brightest bulb in the box.

“Why are you pulling me?” Lewis protested, bewildered.

“Didn’t you see that he’s unhappy? Why are you being a third wheel?” Silas replied, exasperation evident in his tone.

“They’ve been together for so long. What’s wrong with grabbing a meal together?” Lewis argued, his naivety shining through.

If they were still in the honeymoon phase, perhaps it would have been acceptable. But to Lewis, Victor and Tessa seemed like an old married couple, their dynamic far removed from the spark of new love.

Silas sighed, “I really can’t be bothered with you right now.”

For heaven’s sake, he thought, shaking his head in disbelief.

Lewis pouted, crossing his arms. “I’m just telling the truth. And about him… I never realized he was so into women.”

“When he was alone, he was like an icicle,” Lewis continued, oblivious to Silas’s irritation.

“Now that he has someone, he wants to be glued to her all the time. What a change!”

Silas had no desire to engage in this conversation any longer. “Fine. You go to Black Mountain and handle Dale,” he said, dismissing Lewis with a wave of his hand.

“Why should I go handle him?” Lewis protested, confusion etched across his face.
