**TITLE: She Took 953**
**The Returned Heiress Who Never Fit In**
**Chapter 953 It’s All Your Fault**
“You…” His voice trailed off, unable to articulate the confusion that swirled within him.
Jane, her voice sharp and filled with anguish, interjected, “My fiancé cheated, and it’s all your fault!”
Tempest stood there, momentarily stunned, his mind racing. “What the hell? Because of me?!”
The weight of her accusation hung in the air, heavy and suffocating, as he struggled to comprehend the situation.
“How is this even remotely connected to me?” he stammered, grappling with the absurdity of it all.
Cheating? It was a shocking revelation, one that seemed to come out of nowhere. They were on the brink of marriage!
Was it truly possible that he had strayed just because Jane had been delayed in returning for the wedding? Tempest shook his head in disbelief. Such a man was hardly worth keeping around, was he?
Jane continued, her voice rising in desperation, “Because you’re a jinx!”
Tempest was left speechless, his mind racing.
Jane’s emotions were a tempest of their own. She was desperate to return to Rivermount, to confront the situation head-on, but the flight information on the screen taunted her with the word “delayed,” over and over again.
Each passing moment of waiting intensified her anxiety, gnawing at her insides until she felt physically ill.
Ultimately, her distress escalated to such a degree that an ambulance was summoned to take her to the hospital.
Once there, she was hooked up to an IV, medication coursing through her veins as the medical staff tended to her. The fever that gripped her made her head spin, and she felt utterly disoriented.
As noon approached, Rianne was wrapping up her shift and headed toward the cafeteria. It was then that she spotted Jane in the hallway, looking utterly defeated.
“Jane?” Rianne called out, her brow furrowing in concern.
Jane remained silent, her gaze dropping to the floor as tears began to pool in her eyes.
Rianne’s heart sank. “What are you doing here? I heard news of your wedding just as I was leaving Rivermount.”
Despite Jane’s role as Tempest’s assistant, Rianne had always found her likable. Every time Jane managed matters involving Rianne and Ariana, she seemed to instinctively side with Rianne.
Especially during those moments when Tempest would leave with Ariana, it was Jane who remained steadfast by Rianne’s side. In the countless lonely hours that Tempest had inadvertently created, Jane had always been there to offer support.
Jane’s voice broke as she replied, “My wedding… it’s ruined.”
A surge of anger coursed through her. “Right now, I want to kill that bastard Tempest!”
Tears streamed down her cheeks, and even though Sven was the one who had betrayed her, the entire situation felt like a chaotic storm.
It was just as Valery had pointed out during their phone call: what kind of wedding was this? One partner was abroad chasing after another woman, while the other was entangled in infidelity.
Jane felt as though she was the only person in the world with a job that was this absurd.
Rianne, hearing Jane’s vehement words about Tempest, fell silent. She couldn’t help but agree with the sentiment…
But still, she hesitated. “He’s your boss,” she reminded her gently.
“This is pissing me off,” Jane continued, her frustration spilling over.
She had a tendency to cry when she was angry; the more furious she became, the more the tears flowed. Rianne sighed and handed her a tissue, hoping to offer some comfort.
“This stupid place! The blizzard won’t stop, and I even fell earlier!”
The memory only fueled Jane’s anger further.
“And even with all this, that bastard Tempest still wants me to help him chase you!”
The thought of that call from Tempest at the airport, undoubtedly about Rianne and Ariana, only intensified her fury.
Rianne watched as Jane tearfully vented her frustrations about Tempest.
“And you can’t forgive him! He’s abandoned you for Ariana so many times, and he never believes you!”
Despite the bleakness of the situation, Rianne felt an unexpected sense of satisfaction watching Jane passionately criticize Tempest.
But then, a thought crossed Rianne’s mind. “You’re his assistant. Are you really on my side like this?”
Jane’s response came quickly, “Not anymore. I quit yesterday!”
Rianne’s eyes widened in surprise.
No wonder Jane hadn’t reached out in the past couple of days.
Previously, whenever Tempest found himself unable to manage Rianne, he would send Jane as a buffer. Although Jane had disapproved of Tempest’s behavior regarding Ariana, she had always done her best to help him win Rianne back.
