The timestamp froze the air in my lungs instantly. I stared at the footage on the tablet while anger spread slowly through my chest.

Holmes had planned the betrayal before Amorah ever discovered the affair. That alone disgusted me more than I expected.

Amorah stayed silent beside me on the couch while the footage replayed again. Bethany leaned close to Holmes inside the recording, both of them speaking privately outside an old council building.

I watched Holmes carefully. Not once did he look conflicted. The realization made my jaw tighten immediately.

She leaned back into the couch slowly and rubbed a tired hand over her face. “I know that now.”

The room stayed quiet for several seconds.

I could not stop thinking about the version of Amorah who existed before me. The woman Holmes manipulated, humiliated publicly, and abandoned while chasing power he never deserved.

The thought alone made my wolf restless.

“He damaged your trust in yourself,” I said finally.

Amorah looked away immediately. “More than I admitted.”

I reached for her hand without thinking.

“You never needed to compete with Bethany,” I said quietly.

Her eyes lifted toward mine slowly.

“I know that logically,” she admitted. “But emotions don’t always care about logic.”

The honesty in her voice hit hard.

“For a long time,” she continued softly. “I kept wondering why I wasn’t enough for him.”

Kyra frowned at the folded outfit in her hands. “This baby is going to look ridiculous.”

The sound of Amorah laughing again relaxed something deep inside me.

Zane walked into the room carrying training gloves before stopping abruptly after noticing the mess everywhere. He stared at the baby clothes scattered across the floor with visible suspicion.

The sound filled the room naturally.

I watched them silently for several seconds before a realization settled heavily inside my chest. Somewhere along the way, this had stopped feeling temporary completely.

That evening, Amorah joined the intelligence wolves again inside the secured strategy room while I reviewed council communications nearby. Unlike before, she no longer hesitated while directing operations.

“Release the financial trail in stages,” she instructed calmly. “If everything drops publicly at once, Holmes will start destroying evidence immediately.”
