Chapter 131

I stared at the message on the secured device while cold anger settled deeper inside me. Holmes was never simply a man who cheated once and destroyed a marriage.
This behavior was who he had always been.
Manipulation, control and motional dependency.
He built relationships the same way other wolves built political alliances. Every vulnerable person around him became useful eventually.
I finally understood that clearly now.
Conrad walked into the office quietly carrying two mugs before stopping beside my chair. His eyes moved immediately toward the tension in my face.
“She confirmed it?” he asked.
I nodded slowly.
“She said Holmes manipulated several women before Bethany.” My voice stayed calm despite the rage underneath it. “Some publicly defended him afterward because he convinced them everything was their fault.”
Conrad’s jaw tightened instantly.
“He hid behind status,” I continued. “Everyone excused it because he was powerful.”
Conrad handed me the tea carefully before crouching beside me. “Not anymore.”
That answer steadied something inside me.
For years, Holmes controlled the narrative around every cruel thing he did. Wolves called him ambitious instead of manipulative.
They called him strategic instead of selfish.
They blamed the women around him instead of asking why destruction always followed him eventually
I was done allowing that.
“I’m not exposing him emotionally,” I said quietly. “I’m exposing him publicly and completely.”
Conrad studied me carefully.
“You already decided how.”
“I’m building a strategy first.”
A small approving look crossed his face after that answer.
Later that night, neither of us could sleep properly because of the storm outside. Rain hit the windows heavily while tension around the final hearing kept pressing against both of us.

chitually, Conrad disappeared downstairs.
I followed several mmutes later and found him standing inside the kitchen wearing black sweatpants and nothing else while cooking quietly. The sight caught me off guard enough to make the laugh softly,
He looked over immediately. “What?”
“You’re Supreme Alpha.”
“And?”
“You’re making noodles at two in the morning.”
“You refused to sleep.”
“That’s fair.”
He smirked faintly before sliding a bowl toward me across the counter. I climbed onto one of the stools slowly while rubbing my stomach tiredly.
Conrad’s eyes dropped there automatically.
He always touched my stomach now whenever stress filled the room between us. Sometimes I did not even think he realized he was doing it.
“How’s the future troublemaker tonight?” he asked quietly.
I snorted softly. “Probably exhausted because the parents are dramatic.”
“The twins already corrupted this child.”
“That happened the moment Zane taught the baby insults through my stomach.”
Conrad laughed quietly under his breath.
The sound warmed me more than the tea did.
After eating, we ended up assembling nursery furniture together because neither of us wanted to return upstairs yet. handled instructions badly while I mocked him for it openly.
“You skipped three pages.”
“They weren’t important.”
“That explains why the shelf looks dangerous.”
“It looks sturdy.”
“It looks criminal.”
୮
He narrowed his eyes at me while tightening another screw aggressively. “Keep talking and I’ll make you help.”
“I am helping.”
“You’re supervising.”

That’s emotions support.”
Conrad shook his head while laughing quietly again.

The peacefulness of moments like this still surprised me sometimes. Domestic life with him felt warmer and more intimate than passion ever felt with Holmes.
Nothing about this relationship caused fear. Nothing about it required shrinking myself emotionally just to keep peace.
The realization still hit me unexpectedly sometimes.
The next morning, Conrad kissed me slowly before leaving for strategy meetings. His hand rested instinctively against my stomach afterward.
“I’ll be back before lunch.”
“You said that yesterday too.”
“I got ambushed by council elders.”
“You looked like you enjoyed threatening them.”

“I did.”
I rolled my eyes while smiling despite myself.
After he left, I focused on Luna responsibilities across the territory instead of council politics directly. The corruption scandal had left many she–wolves inside smaller territories frightened and unstable emotionally.
Several lost financial support after their mates became involved publicly in council investigations. Others feared speaking openly after seeing how wolves like Holmes destroyed reputations quietly for years.
I refused to ignore that anymore.
Inside one support center, I spent hours meeting families affected by council corruption scandals. Some only needed
resources.
Others needed someone willing to actually listen.
One older she–wolf squeezed my hand tightly before leaving. “You make wolves feel safe.”
The words affected me more deeply than she probably realized.
I earned loyalty differently from Conrad. He inspired strength and I inspired trust.
By evening. I returned home emotionally exhausted but calmer than before. Kyra immediately dragged me toward the nursery the moment I walked inside.
“I picked clothes,”
