“That’s betrayal,” Zane added from somewhere behind her.

I took the phone carefully. “I provide this family with luxury and protection, and this is the respect I receive?”

“You’re still suspicious,” Zane informed me seriously.

Kyra leaned closer toward the screen. “Did Amorah smile today?”

Amorah looked embarrassed immediately. “Kyra.”

“It’s an important question,” she argued.

I glanced toward Amorah before answering honestly. “Yeah. She did.”

Kyra looked satisfied after that. Zane crossed his arms carefully.

“Good,” he muttered. “Don’t make her cry.”

Amorah laughed softly while I stared at him with mock offense. “I’m the Supreme Alpha and somehow still getting threatened by children.”

“You deserve it,” Amorah whispered beside me.

After the call ended, we stayed outside near the rooftop pool while soft music played quietly overhead. Amorah rested against my chest while we moved slowly together beneath the city lights.
