Chapter 150

My wolf instincts stayed vident and restess because nothing about Holines arriving personally felt stable anymore.
Amorah stood near my office window wearing one of my shirts loosely over sleep shorts while snow continued falling outside the estate grounds. She looked exhausted already, but determination stift hardened her expression anyway.
“You’ve hiding information again,” she said quietly,
“I’m verifying it first.”
Her eyes narrowed immediately afterward. “Conrad.”
I crossed the room slowly before stopping directly in front of her. Even exhausted and pregnant, she still looked ready to fight me over this.
“I don’t want Holmes getting inside your head again,” I admitted honestly.
Her expression softened slightly after that. “You don’t get to decide what truths I can survive.”
The words hit hard because she was right.
I exhaled slowly before brushing my fingers carefully against her cheek. “I know.”
Amorah looked emotionally worn down in a way that worried me deeply lately. Every new discovery about her past seemed to strip away another layer of certainty from her life.
“I just need something to feel real again,” she whispered.
Without answering immediately, I pulled her carefully against my chest. The baby shifted sharply between us almost instantly.
Her hand pressed lightly against her stomach afterward. “Even the baby gets anxious now.”
“My wolf does too,” I admitted quietly.

She laughed softly at that despite herself. The sound eased some of the pressure inside my chest immediately.
Later that morning, the pregnancy exhaustion hit her harder than usual. She barely finished breakfast before becoming pale and uncomfortable beside the kitchen island.
I guided her upstairs carefully while she muttered complaints under her breath the entire time. My wolf stayed aggressively protective because she looked too tired to even argue properly anymore.
“I’m fine,” she insisted weakly once I helped her sit on the bed.
“You almost fell asleep holding a spoon.”
“That’s not illegal.”
“It should be.”

Her expression softened instantly after hearing it. Small moments like that fill affected her deeply.
While she rested against my shoulder afterward, I opened the first recovered archive carefully. The files carried old bloodline seals connected to succession-sensitive heirs.
Amorah noticed immediately. “Read it to me.”
I hesitated briefly before finally nodding. “Okay.”
She shifted closer against my chest while I started quietly reading through the records aloud. Most of the information involved altered transport routes, erased census records, and bloodline concealment orders from years ago.
The more I read, the tenser she became beside me.
“My whole childhood sounds fake,” she whispered eventually.
I closed the file briefly before kissing her forehead slowly. “You’re still you.”
“But what if even my name wasn’t mine?”
The question stayed hanging heavily between us afterward. I hated that I couldn’t answer it honestly yet.
That evening, Kyra burst into the bedroom carrying colored/paper, tape, and enough glitter to start a small war. Zane followed behind her looking deeply offended to be involved.
“We started the secret baby welcome committee,” Kyra announced proudly.
I immediately looked suspicious. “Why is there glitter?”
“Decoration,” she answered confidently.
“Destruction,” Zane corrected.
Amorah laughed quietly from the bed while Kyra climbed beside her carefully. The entire room instantly felt lighter once the twins started arguing again.
“We’re making baby rules,” Kyra explained while waving a notebook around.
Zane folded his arms. “Most of her rules are stupid.”
“They are not.”
“One says the baby has mandatory dessert rights.”
“That’s an excellent law,” Amorah replied seriously.
