The territory stayed busy long after we received the report about Holmes, and by morning, the mood inside the inner grounds had changed again.

The wolves moved more carefully, patrols changed faster, and every new report had more pressure than before.

Conrad had already moved security around the safe house deeper into restricted territory during the night, making sure Zane and Kyra stayed protected behind several layers of guards that only a few people in his inner circle could access.

I stayed involved from early morning, reviewing reports beside Conrad while his wolves moved in and out of the strategy hall. The twins had not been moved again after reaching the deeper safe house, but security around them became even tighter after Zane tried to leave.

Every path leading toward their location was now watched directly by wolves loyal only to Conrad.

One of the guards stepped forward during the meeting and lowered his head slightly before speaking.

“Kyra has remained calm,” he reported. “Zane is still asking to leave the restricted section, but he has stopped fighting physically.”

I nodded once as I listened carefully.

“Has anything changed with Kyra’s reactions?” I asked.

“She notices movement before it happens,” the guard replied. “Mostly small things, but enough that the others around her have started noticing it too.”

Conrad remained standing beside the table, focused on the report the entire time.

“Keep the current restrictions,” he instructed. “Nothing changes without my approval.”

The guard immediately accepted the order and stepped away, leaving the room quiet for a moment. I looked at Conrad and noticed again how calmly he handled pressure in front of his wolves.

The strategy meeting continued for another hour before movement outside the hall pulled some attention away. Several high–ranking wolves had arrived from nearby parts of the territory, most likely because of the growing reports involving Silvercrest and Obsidian Hollow.

I followed Conrad out into the open inner grounds, noticing how conversations became quieter as we approached. Most of the wolves stepped aside respectfully, though I still caught some of them looking at me.

Some looked curious, others cautious, and a few openly judged me without trying to hide it. I had already learned that standing beside Conrad always brought attention.

We had barely crossed the courtyard when a female wolf stepped forward from the group. She carried herself confidently and looked directly at Conrad before turning her attention to me..
