They hadn't even made it onto the mattress. Sprawled over the edge of the bed, the intensity of their passion sent Elara Vance's mind spinning into the stratosphere.

Zane Whitaker finally found his release. Resting his weight gently against her luminous back, his voice was thick and raspy. "You seem a little different tonight."

Elara's heart skipped a beat. Had he really caught onto her secret little thoughts so easily?

Was he always this perceptive?

"How... how am I different?"

Zane chuckled softly. "I can't quite put my finger on it. The vibe is just... different."

Elara breathed a sigh of relief. For a second, she thought he had noticed how hopelessly ravenous she was for him.

Because she was.

Completely famished for him.

After wiping Elara down, Zane didn't bother cleaning up the mess they'd left in the living room.

Instead, they lounged in bed, tangled in each other's arms.

"Stop teasing," she murmured. "I need to go pick up our clothes."

"Leave it. I'll get it later." Zane wrapped his arms tighter around her soft curves, refusing to let go. "Tell me what you've been up to lately. Did you finalize that contract with Dominic?"

"Signed and sealed. It went pretty smoothly," Elara said. "Dominic had a lot of reservations initially, but something made him change his mind. I'm guessing some heavy hitter stepped in and gave him a guarantee behind the scenes."

Zane let out a low laugh, neither confirming nor denying it.

Elara tilted her head to look up at him. "What did you say to him?"

His gaze softened as he looked down at the woman in his arms. "My contract with him was signed a long time ago."

When it came to deals of that magnitude, nothing mattered until it was in writing.

Elara stared at him in surprise, her eyes glistening. "What kind of contract did you sign with him?"

"What else? Funding the project, of course," Zane said with an easy smile.

"You are... so foolishly impulsive sometimes."

Zane shrugged it off. "You need to have faith in Dominic's capabilities, and more importantly, in my bank account. With the two of us backing it, this project isn't going to fail."
