The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 110

Chapter 110

What if Tara ran her mouth and Grandma actually believed her?

Tara smirks coldly. “What’s wrong? Terrified I just exposed all your filthy little secrets?”

A flash of panic crosses Jade’s eyes, but she instantly shifts into her victim persona, her eyes welling with tears. “Tara, I know you hate me, but Grandma is old. She can’t handle this kind of stress…”

Tara shoots her a look of pure disgust. “Are you done acting?”

She takes a step forward, dropping her voice to a lethal whisper. “Did you really think your cheap, pathetic tricks could fool her forever?”

Jade’s face goes pale, though she desperately maintains her innocent facade. “I don’t know what you’re talking about…”

“Don’t worry. I played the exact same recording for her that I played for the rest of you. You can drop the act.”

Without another word, Tara breezes past her and heads straight for the staircase.

A vicious, desperate idea suddenly sparks in Jade’s mind, her eyes flashing with pure malice.

She lunges forward, gripping Tara’s wrist like a vise. “Tara, I’m so sorry! It’s all my fault! Please just forgive me!”

Her nails dig painfully into Tara’s skin. Annoyed, Tara forcibly wrenches her arm free.

Using the momentum of Tara pulling away, Jade intentionally throws her weight backward, preparing to tumble down the long flight of stairs.

“Ahhh!” A bloodcurdling scream echoes through the massive estate.

But Tara’s reflexes are lightning-fast. In a blur of motion, she lunges forward and grabs the back of Jade’s collar just as she is about to go over the edge.

“Trying to play the tragic victim? That trick is getting a little old, don’t you think?” Tara sneers, hauling her back onto the landing.

Jade’s face is ghastly white, her lips trembling. “What… what are you talking about…”

The commotion is deafening. The study door flies open, and Eleanor steps out just in time to see Tara gripping the back of Jade’s dress.

“What in the world is going on out here?” Eleanor barks with absolute authority.

Instantly, the tears spill over. Jade begins sobbing hysterically. “Grandma… my sister… I was just trying to apologize, but she wouldn’t listen! She… she tried to push me down the stairs!”

Hearing the screams, Tara’s parents come sprinting up the steps. Seeing the scene, her father explodes in a fit of rage. “Tara! You’ve gone too far!”

Tara stands at the top of the staircase, her eyes utterly devoid of warmth as she surveys the ridiculous theatrical performance unfolding before her.

Suddenly, she simply opens her hand.

Freed from Tara’s iron grip, Jade loses her balance and violently tumbles backward, rolling down the hard wooden steps like a ragdoll.

“Since you wanted to fall down the stairs so badly, I figured I’d grant your wish,” Tara draws effortlessly over the sound of Jade’s shrieks.

Jade screams in agony as she hits the landing, pain exploding through her limbs.

That psychotic bitch! Right now, Jade wants nothing more than to murder her.

Horrified, Deanna rushes down the steps. “Jade! My baby, are you okay? I’m taking you to the hospital right now!”

Her father points a shaking finger at Tara, cursing her at the top of his lungs. “How could you hurt Jade right in front of us?! Is there no limit to your cruelty?!”
