The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 114

Chapter 114

Tara ignores her completely. Giving a person like Jade any attention is just a waste of energy. She stands quietly off to the side, a faint, unbothered smile on her lips.

Unable to resist, Jade calls her out. “What did you prepare for Grandma?”

Tara sees the evil anticipation in Jade’s eyes. Jade wants a public humiliation, but Tara refuses to give her the satisfaction.

With a calm smile, Tara steps forward and presents a weathered, completely unremarkable wooden box. “Grandma, I wish you endless health and peace. It is a humble gift, but I hope you like it.”

Compared to Jade’s luxurious sandalwood display, Tara’s box looks ancient and cheap. The guests exchange confused glances.

Jade lets out a quiet scoff, muttering loud enough for the front row to hear, “What kind of junk could possibly be in such a pathetic box?” She is practically vibrating with excitement, ready for Tara to become the laughingstock of the night.

The crowd watches intently. If the biological daughter presents something worthless, it won’t just embarrass the Dennis family; it will shatter Eleanor’s high opinion of her.

Eleanor’s expression remains neutral as she takes the box and opens it. She frowns slightly.. Inside lies what looks like a shriveled, dried-up piece of root.

Jade bursts out laughing. “Tara, did you… did you buy a dried radish from the farmer’s market?”

A few muffled snickers echo through the crowd. After the multi-million-dollar emerald statue, this looks like an absolute joke.

Tara doesn’t flinch. “Grandma, this is the Primordial Ginseng Root. It possesses incredible rejuvenating properties.”

“Primordial Ginseng?” An elderly man pushes his way to the front. He is a highly respected physician in the city. “These… these markings, the root structure… the scent!” He scrambles to put on his glasses, his hands shaking as he inspects the box. “My god! This is a wild ginseng root that is at least two hundred years old! You cannot find this on the market anymore. It is a legendary specimen!”

The crowd falls dead silent. Authentic, ancient wild ginseng is so thick and rugged, it often resembles a radish to the untrained eye.

The old doctor looks at Eleanor in pure awe. “Madam, your granddaughter is remarkable! A piece like this is absolutely priceless. Even with all the money in the world, you cannot just buy this!”

Chapter 114

Jade’s smile violently shatters, her nails digging into her palms.

Eleanor looks at the root, her eyes widening in delight. “Tara, this is…”
