Eleanor slowly drifts back to consciousness. Her eyes flutter open to find the entire family crowded around her bed. The heavy atmosphere makes her feel as if she's on her deathbed, with everyone gathered around to hear her final will.

"Why are you all here? What happened to me?" the older woman asks, a hint of tension in her raspy voice. She only remembers getting ready to meet her friends for a card game before a sudden wave of heat and shortness of breath overtook her. Her head had pounded violently, the room spun, and then everything went black.

Before Tara can even open her mouth, Jade darts to the bedside, desperate to steal the spotlight. Her eyes are perfectly rimmed with red as she chokes back a sob. "Grandma, thank goodness you're okay! You terrified me when you collapsed. I've been massaging you and wiping your forehead non-stop. I'm just so glad you're safe." The way she put it is like she single-handedly pulled the woman from the brink of death. Not once does she mention the poison, let alone the fact that Tara was the one who actually administered the cure.

Tara watches the performance with a silent, mocking sneer.

"Mom, you were poisoned," Aunt Kellen interjects, unable to stomach Jade's sickeningly sweet act for another second. Her protective instincts over her biological niece flare up. She shoots a pointed look at Charles and Deanna. "It's all thanks to Tara that you're alive. She gave you the antidote. Isn't that right?"

Charles and Deanna had been fully prepared to sing Jade's praises, but Kellen corners them. Left with no room to deny the truth, they nod stiffly. "Yes, that's right."

"Tara certainly saved you, but Jade hasn't left your side for a single second," Deanna is quick to add. "Everyone was worried sick, and poor Jade practically cried her eyes out."
