"I can't even look at them," scoffs a young woman with her hair pulled into a messy bun. She has a trendy, youthful style, but the vicious sneer on her face completely ruins the look. "The heirs to the Jewell and Dennis empires, degrading themselves to worship women who clearly hate them? They used to command respect. Now they are just pathetic, lovesick puppies with zero masculinity."
"The world is full of all types of people. We simply shouldn't lower ourselves to acknowledge women like her," her companion replies.
The woman sitting across from her is dressed in what appears to be a simple, understated dress, but a trained eye would instantly recognize the staggering price tag attached to the flawless tailoring and premium silk. The fabric drapes perfectly over her stunning curves, enhancing her luminous skin and delicate, aristocratic features. She radiates the quiet, untouchable elegance of true high society. Her long, silky hair cascades smoothly over her shoulders, giving her the aura of a composed, classical lady.
"Julianna, did you hear the absolute garbage coming out of that woman's mouth?" the girl with the bun demands, her voice shrill with indignation. "She actually had the nerve to claim Danny is her man. How completely shameless! He is supposed to be your fiancé!"
Julianna's aloof expression finally fractures. A brief, icy shadow crosses her eyes before vanishing instantly.
"They are nothing but cheap rumors and gossip," Julianna says, her voice as smooth and soothing as water, yet carrying a heavy, undeniable authority. "There is no need to pay them any mind."
The girl with the bun immediately snaps her mouth shut, not daring to push the issue. But inside, she is seething. Everyone in their social circle knows exactly who Tara is—the absolute worst, most uncultured embarrassment of the Dennis family. It is no wonder her own parents tossed her aside in favor of an adopted daughter. She is a completely arrogant, D-list celebrity who managed to sleep her way into Danny's bed using her face, and now she is bragging about it in public, using the most powerful man in the country to mock her ex. If she had Julianna's status, she would have marched over there and slapped Tara across the face. Julianna is just far too graceful and forgiving.
Outside, Tara slides into the passenger seat of Lucinda's car. They decide to head to their favorite casual restaurant near the office instead. Running into the two worst men in their lives could have ruined the afternoon, but after tearing them to shreds so spectacularly, both women are in fantastic spirits.
