Sitting across the desk, Luke leans in, his eyes gleaming with gossip. "Is Tara still giving you the cold shoulder?"
Danny shoots him a freezing glare. "Since when are you on a first-name basis with her?"
Luke clears his throat and immediately adjusts his attitude. "My apologies. Is Miss Dennis still mad at you?"
"Such a petty tyrant," Luke thinks to himself.
"Yes," Danny admits, his voice tight. "She's mad."
"It's because of your fiancée, right?" Luke groans. "I told you to come clean with her earlier. Dropping that bomb on a live broadcast? It's awkward as hell. You basically made her look like the other woman on national television. She has every right to be furious."
"I didn't think it would escalate like this," Danny sighs, rubbing the back of his neck in frustration.
This ridiculous arranged marriage was entirely his grandmother Catherine’s doing. She orchestrated it without his or his mother’s consent, and neither of them had ever acknowledged it. Catherine is so stubbornly overbearing, Danny had simply ignored the arrangement, considering it a trivial annoyance not worth his time. He never expected Julianna to show up on the reality show and force a confrontation.
"Well, you're regretting it now, aren't you?" Luke pats his friend’s shoulder with a smug grin. "This is where you need a romance expert like me."
With a legendary track record of casual flings, Luke fully believes he is qualified to save his friend's tragic love life.
Danny narrows his eyes, highly skeptical. "You actually have a good idea?"
"Persistence, my friend," Luke says confidently. "Harass her until she agrees to get a drink with you. Get her a little tipsy, take her back to your place, and boom! After that, she'll be totally devoted to you. Trust me, women can't let go of the man who rocks their world."
"If you don't want an alliance, then find a girl and settle down!"
"Deal," Danny agrees without hesitation. "Cancel the engagement, and I'll bring a wife home immediately."
Catherine freezes, completely taken aback. Has her fiercely independent grandson actually found someone he likes?
She quickly recovers her composure. "Absolutely not! I only acknowledge Julianna!"
It isn't just about the Sinclair family’s wealth and status; Julianna is universally recognized as a flawless, brilliant woman. In Catherine’s eyes, only a woman of that caliber is fit to stand beside her perfect grandson and lead the Calhoun dynasty. No random girl off the street could ever compare.
"No. I will not allow this engagement to be broken," Catherine insists, her tone final. "When your mother returns, she will agree with my choice. I went through a lot of trouble to secure this perfect match for you."
