"I am canceling it, whether you agree or not," Danny says, his voice cold and resolute.
Unlike Evan, Danny doesn't fear anyone—not even his grandmother. If he doesn't want a woman, and he doesn't want a marriage, God himself couldn't force him to walk down the aisle.
"Danny!" Catherine gasps, her vision swimming with fury.
"Danny, what are you doing?" a sharp voice interrupts. Garrison strides into the room, eager to jump into the fray. "You barely visit all year, and the second you walk through the door, you try to put your grandmother in the grave?"
Ever since his older brother mysteriously disappeared and was presumed dead, Garrison believed it was finally his time to rule the family. Instead, he found himself entirely overshadowed and dominated by his nephew. His resentment has been festering for years.
Danny doesn't even glance his way. "This doesn't concern you. Mind your own business."
"Is that how you speak to your uncle?" Garrison snaps. This arrogant brat is just like his father—relying on his high IQ and raw talent to act like he owns the world. Without the backing of the Calhoun empire, Danny would be nothing!
"Enough, Garrison," Catherine intervenes, instinctively protecting her favorite grandson. "Danny is already in a foul mood. Don't antagonize him."
