Catherine had honestly assumed her grandson was chasing after some ethereal goddess if he was willing to throw a perfect catch like Julianna away. To find out he is obsessing over a walking disaster is beyond comprehension.
Not only is the Dennis family constantly making headlines for the wrong reasons, but they can't even tell the difference between their adopted daughter and their biological flesh and blood. And from what Catherine has heard, Tara is a relentless rebel who refuses to be controlled. The family is beneath the Calhouns, and the girl herself is a liability. What kind of terrible taste does Danny have to fall for someone like that? It has to be purely based on her looks. Catherine has heard whispers about Tara’s radiant, striking beauty, which explains why Danny is so captivated. But a pretty face isn't enough to run an empire.
"I will say this one last time," Danny says, taking a slow, steady sip of his coffee. He looks completely unaffected by the screaming match. "My life is not up for discussion. If you love Julie so much, Grant can marry her. She can still be your granddaughter-in-law."
"Absolutely not! Julianna would never settle for a playboy like Grant! And her name is Julianna, not whatever you just called her!" Catherine clutches her chest, looking like she is about to faint from the sheer disrespect.
"Mom, what's wrong with Grant?" Garrison bristles, immediately defensive. Grant is his son, and while he might not be a ruthless corporate shark like Danny, he is still a perfectly fine wealthy heir. "Maybe Julianna likes his type."
"You are all trying to kill me! I am done arguing with you!" Exhausted and overwhelmed by the chaos, Catherine waves for her maids and storms off to her bedroom. She can't stand looking at either of them for another second.
With the matriarch gone, the heavy oak doors shut, leaving Danny and Garrison alone in the massive parlor.
"Why bother putting on a show for Grandma, Uncle Garrison?" Danny sets his mug down, his predatory gaze locking onto the older man. "Me marrying Julie would secure an unbreakable alliance with the Sinclairs. That is the ultimate threat to your side of the family."
