"Fine. Just remember what you said, or you'll pay the price." Danny has zero interest in wasting another breath on the man. He agrees without hesitation, rises from his seat, and strides out of the Calhoun estate.
Garrison watches him leave, stunned. He never expected his notoriously difficult nephew to agree so readily. It seems Tara truly carries immense weight in Danny's heart. This is perfect. Going forward, there will be plenty of opportunities to use the woman against him. The invincible Danny finally has a weakness, and Garrison feels like the universe is practically handing him a victory.
Meanwhile, Danny slides into the driver's seat of his car. His phone buzzes through the Bluetooth speakers.
"Why on earth did you hand that project over to Garrison?" the caller demands. "That's a massive development. Giving it to him means he's going to run it straight into the ground!"
"Relax. I know exactly what I'm doing," Danny replies, his tone smooth and unbothered. "I'm just playing along."
"Wait, you're doing this on purpose? Using his own momentum to crush him?" The caller catches on quickly, letting out a relieved sigh. "Alright, as long as you have a plan. I'll leave you to it."
Danny ends the call and peels out of the driveway. His first instinct is to find Tara, hoping a bit of shameless groveling might extinguish her anger. But the mess with his arranged engagement isn't completely resolved yet. Showing up now would only give her protective friends more ammunition to tear into him. It is better to handle the Sinclair family first.
