Luke frowns, a knot of worry forming in his chest for Tara's safety.
"Don't you know what she's capable of?" he asks, trying to reassure himself as much as Bianca. "She's tough. She's going to be absolutely fine."
"We need to find a safe place to lay low first," Bianca insists, catching her breath. "Once we know we're clear, we can figure out a way to go back and help her."
Before he had even thrown himself into the chaotic brawl earlier, Luke had already fired off an SOS text to his best buddy, Danny. With his sweetheart out there fighting off a pack of thugs, he knows Danny will be racing to the scene at breakneck speed. And the second Danny arrives, Luke knows his own involvement will be completely unnecessary. Danny will have her rescued in a matter of seconds. Luke certainly isn't about to play the reckless hero and try to save the damsel in distress; if he did, he'd probably end up six feet under. Just thinking about his buddy's fierce possessive streak sends a shiver down his spine.
Sitting beside him, Bianca is completely oblivious to his dramatic internal monologue. She paces anxiously, desperate to come up with a solid plan to get them out of this mess.
Meanwhile, Tara's situation has drastically improved. The moment Luke and Bianca made their escape, a heavy weight lifted off her shoulders. Free from the burden of protecting them, she completely unleashes her lethal skills, mercilessly taking down the pack of bastards.
Initially, the thugs thought their sheer numbers and decent combat skills would make easy work of a single woman. Their leader had even scoffed at their employer for throwing millions of dollars at them just to capture a little girl, thinking it was a massive overreaction. But now, staring down this fierce fighter, they realize she is an absolute nightmare. She tears through their ranks with devastating precision, striking with a ferocious power that leaves them reeling. They can hardly believe that simply shedding her two companions has turned her into an unstoppable force. Even when the three assassins who had broken off to chase Luke and Bianca return to join the fray, they still can't manage to take her down. One by one, they collapse into groaning heaps on the dirt, completely incapacitated. Total annihilation.
