Chapter 52

Bianca is wearing a fiery red mini-dress, practically radiating energy. With one in striking black and the other in vibrant red, the two women instantly become the center of attention in the dimly lit club. Heads turn in their direction as they settle into their booth.

They haven’t been sitting for long when a commotion breaks out near the entrance. Alec strolls in, his arm draped around a girl wearing heavy makeup, flanked by a group of his cocky socialite friends.

“Ugh, talk about bad luck,” Bianca groans, rolling her eyes. She recognizes Alec immediately. Just thinking about how toxic the Dennis family is makes the air in the club feel suffocating.

Alec spots Tara and immediately frowns. He strides over to their booth. “Tara, what the hell are you doing here?”

Tara looks at him with utter unimpressed exhaustion. “You don’t own this place, do you? Someone needs to put their pet on a leash before it barks at random strangers.”

“Who are you calling a pet?” Alec demands, his face flushing with anger.

“Whoever barks back,” Tara replies smoothly, taking a sip of her drink.

“Hmph! This place is full of shady characters. Try not to get yourself into trouble,” Alec sneers, his gaze turning predatory and dark.

“Thanks for the concern. Worry about yourself,” Tara shoots back coldly.

“You’re out of your mind,” Alec spits before storming off with his entourage. He silently vows to find an opportunity to teach her a lesson tonight. Because of her, his entire family is in chaos.

“The Dennis brothers are all disgusting,” Bianca mutters, leaping to Tara’s defense. “Treating that manipulative two-faced Jade like she’s a precious gem while they tear down their own flesh and blood. Fucking psychos.”

Up in a luxurious VIP suite on the second floor, Luke casually swirls his drink. His gaze sweeps across the crowded main floor and lands directly on the confrontation. A flash of pure astonishment crosses his face.

“Hey, Danny. Your girl is here,” Luke says.

They are at the club celebrating a mutual friend’s birthday. Danny, sitting a few feet away, frowns deeply at the remark. “What nonsense are you talking about?”

“I’m not talking nonsense. Your private doctor is sitting right down there in a booth. Wow, I never realized she had such a killer body. You hit the jackpot, man.”

Danny freezes, his hand gripping his glass tightly. He follows Luke’s gaze and spots the

familiar silhouette. Tara is wearing a skin-tight black dress, the backless cut putting her flawless figure on full display. Under the club’s hypnotic neon lights, she looks like a blooming black rose-dangerous and completely captivating.

“What? Cat got your tongue?” Luke teases, elbowing him in the ribs.

“Shut up,” Danny snaps.

No wonder she texted him earlier saying she was busy with a friend’s birthday. Fate really has a strange sense of humor, dropping them in the same club.

Watching several drunken men hovering around Tara’s booth, Danny’s gaze turns somber, cold enough to freeze water.

Their friend Samuel wanders over, shouting over the bass. “What are you guys looking at? thought we were playing cards!”
