The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 60

Chapter 60

Charles’s face darkens with rage. “Kellen, don’t be a fool! She isn’t a part of this family anymore. What right does she have to hog the family shares?”

Tara scoffs coldly. She gently pats Kellen’s hand to soothe her. “Aunt Kellen, don’t waste your energy on them. Your health is what matters right now.”

She slowly stands up, her gaze sweeping over the Dennis family like a blade of ice. “You can forget about the shares. I’ll personally hire Dr. T to perform my aunt’s surgery.”

Jake lets out a loud, mocking laugh. “Tara, do you seriously think you can just pull a world-class surgeon out of thin air? Professor Maxwell is the top expert in the country, and even he only has a fifty percent success rate. And this ‘Dr. T’ you’re talking about? Please. Who knows if you’ll just drag some fraud in here?”

Jade chimes in, her voice dripping with fake concern. “Tara, Aunt Kellen’s life isn’t a game. Stop acting so stubborn…”

Her mother steps forward, glaring furiously. “Tara, do you have any idea how dangerous this operation is? One tiny mistake and her brain will be permanently damaged! Jake has the connections to get Professor Maxwell right now. Sign the contract immediately!”

They barrage her with threats and guilt trips, acting like a synchronized choir of vultures.

Tara completely tunes out their insults. She picks up the medical charts and CT scans resting at the foot of the bed and studies them intently. Her slender fingers flip through the pages, her eyes sharp and utterly focused.

The tumor is incredibly complex. It is entirely wrapped around a major blood vessel. The slightest tremor of the scalpel, and the patient would bleed out on the table. It is no wonder other surgeons are terrified to touch it.

No one can do this surgery.

Except her.

These pathetic fools actually thought they could use this to blackmail her? They are unbelievably stupid.

The room suddenly falls dead silent, the only sound being the rustle of the medical files in Tara’s hands.

“Hmph. Look at her pretending to read,” Alec mutters under his breath. “Since when does reading a chart cure a tumor?”

Jade rolls her eyes, sneering. “When did my sister suddenly become a doctor? Look at her analyzing those scans.”

Chapter 60

Kellen looks at her family, feeling an overwhelming sense of disgust. It is as if she doesn’t even know who they are anymore. How can they be this vile?

“You are all shameless,” Kellen snaps, turning her desperate gaze back to Tara. “Tara, don’t listen to a word they say. This tumor is a death sentence. Even if you sign their stupid contract, the surgery has a ninety-nine percent chance of failing. Get out of here. Just go!”

Tara glances at the Dennis family before gently squeezing Kellen’s hand. “I’m going to go prepare everything for your surgery. Just rest for the next couple of days. You are going to be fine. I promise.”

Without another word, Tara turns on her heel and strides out of the room.

Her aunt’s condition is deteriorating rapidly; she can’t afford to waste any more time. The immediate priority is contacting the hospital administration to secure an operating room and surgical equipment. She will be performing the surgery herself.
