Chapter 68
“You’re too kind, Garrison. But the boy is just delaying the inevitable.”
“If you ask me, he’d be better off just…”
The gossiping abruptly flatlines. Danny steps into the grand hall with slow, measured strides, his chiseled face an unreadable mask of stone. His predatory gaze slowly sweeps across the room, locking onto every single person present.
“It seems everyone is quite invested in my health,” his deep, icy voice echoes.
The cup in Garrison’s hand trembles slightly, but he quickly regains his composure. “Danny you’re back. We were just worrying that you’re working too hard… You really need to take care of yourself. If something terrible were to happen to you, it would be a disaster.”
A cold smile touches Danny’s lips. He fakes a few hollow coughs, his long fingers pressing against his chest as he puts on a slightly pale complexion. “You’re absolutely right, Uncle Garrison. My body really is failing me.”
A flash of smug triumph crosses Garrison’s eyes, though he masks it with intense concern. “Danny, should I call the family doctor to take a look at you?”
“No need. I’m already tracking down Dr. T, and I believe I’ll have good news very soon.” Danny suddenly straightens his posture, his previously weakened gaze sharpening into a lethal glare.
Garrison’s brow twitches imperceptibly. Are the rumors true? Has the elusive Dr. T actually surfaced? He realizes he can’t sit back and wait anymore; he has to strike first. The Calhoun Corporation rightfully belongs to him.
Forcing down his rising panic, Garrison plasters on a hypocritical smile. “That’s wonderful news, Danny. I’ve also sent people out to look for him. Don’t worry, we’ll find him.”
“Then I suppose I should thank you, Uncle Garrison,” Danny says, giving a slow, mocking nod that makes Garrison sweat.
Later, back at his own sprawling villa, Garrison looks incredibly grim. His wife Marilyn rushes over. “Honey, you’re back. How did it go today?”
Garrison’s face is dark like a thundercloud. “That little bastard is actually looking for Dr. T! If he finds him, our entire plan goes up in smoke.”
Marilyn’s face drains of color. “What? That legendary doctor?”
“I’ve already got people digging into his background,” Garrison sneers.
Marilyn steps closer, lowering her voice to a lethal whisper. “Honey, should we just…” She makes a swift cutting motion across her throat. The implication is crystal clear.

Garrison nods, his eyes turning murderous. “Absolutely. I’m not giving Danny the chance to survive. I’m putting a detail on him to see if anyone suspicious pops up around him.”
When his older brother died, Garrison assumed the company would automatically fall into his lap. Instead, Thomas bypassed him completely and handed the keys to the kingdom straight to Danny. Garrison had spent his whole life working for the family, only to be treated like a footstool. How could he possibly accept that? He had gone to extreme lengths to poison Danny, thinking he has won the game. A random miracle doctor swooping in to ruin his masterpiece is out of the question. Anyone who stands in his way has to die.
