Seeing Deanna's absolute despair only fuels Jade's cruel satisfaction.
"You really can't blame me for this," Jade taunts, examining her perfectly manicured nails. "You should blame yourself for being so unbelievably stupid. You never suspected a thing. You never noticed a damn thing. Not only that, but you completely indulged your sons. You practically cheered them on as they bullied and alienated your own biological daughter. Who else is there to blame but you?"
Jade knows exactly how to twist the knife, how to find the most vulnerable, festering wounds and dig her fingers right in.
Deanna clutches her chest, sobbing hysterically. "Stop it! Don't say another word! Get out of my house! Get the hell out!"
A suffocating wave of regret crashes over Deanna. She finally understands the terrifying depth of her own foolishness. She had let a literal child manipulate her entire existence. She had allowed her own sons to destroy their sister.
It is her own sin. She brought this nightmare upon herself. Not only has she lost Tara's forgiveness forever, but she nearly destroyed her three sons in the process.
"I think I'll stay right here," Jade mocks, leaning back in her chair. "I'll say whatever I want, and there's nothing you can do about it. My brothers still don't know the truth, by the way. They still think I'm a saint. They still think I'm a million times better than Tara. Even after finding out I'm your rival's daughter, they stood by me. They comforted me. They didn't feel sorry for you for a single second."
Jade happily mixes truth with lies, pouring gasoline on the fire of Deanna's breaking mind.
Leaning forward until she is inches from Deanna's ear, Jade delivers the final blow. "Oh, right. I almost forgot to tell you. That terrible car crash a few years ago? The one where I heroically saved your life? I hired the driver. I staged the whole thing. I orchestrated the hit, swooped in to save you, and let you cry tears of gratitude. You were so pathetic, telling everyone how Tara wouldn't even be half the daughter I was."
Jade throws her head back and laughs, a sharp, piercing sound that echoes through the room. "God, how does someone as brainless as you even exist?"
"You psycho!" Deanna screams, pushed completely over the edge. "I'll kill you! You little bastard, I'll kill you before you ruin my family!"
Fueled by pure, unadulterated adrenaline and rage, Deanna lunges forward with desperate strength, throwing herself off the bed to choke the life out of the smirking girl. Even if she dies today, she intends to take this monster with her. As long as Jade breathes, her sons and her poor Tara will never be safe.
