Chapter 73
Chapter 73
Tara can’t shake the creeping suspicion that Danny is actually here. But a ruthless,
untouchable billionaire at a pop concert? It doesn’t make any sense.
As she tries to push the thought away, a heavy, burning gaze seems to bore into her skin. She instinctively looks up, scanning the darkened VIP suites on the second floor. Through the dim lighting, she catches a glimpse of a tall, imposing figure standing by the railing. The backlight obscures his face, but those broad shoulders, that stance…
Her heart skips a painful beat.
Is it trally him?
Panic flutters in her chest. She feels like she just got caught red-handed, though she has absolutely no idea why she feels guilty. She bought her ticket-well, got her ticket-and is just enjoying a show. Why does she feel like a cheating wife?
Following her gaze, Bianca gasps. “Wait. Does that guy look like Danny to you? Wow, didn’t peg him as a fanboy.”
Tara snaps her head back toward the stage, her pulse hammering wildly against her ribs. What is he doing here?
On stage, the concert is winding down. The frenetic music fades into a slow, sultry beat. Jaden pants lightly into the microphone. “This last song is for all of you. Did you have a good time tonight?”
The arena shakes with a unified roar. “Yes!”
Tara, however, is entirely distracted, her fingers absentmindedly twisting the strap of her purse. Her stomach is tied in knots.
Bianca leans in, her voice dripping with amusement. “Tara, don’t tell me you’re feeling guilty.”
“Guilty for what?” Tara fires back, feigning ignorance.
“Then why do you keep sneaking glances at the balcony?” Bianca smirks. “Afraid a certain someone is getting jealous?”
Tara’s ears burn. She nudges Bianca’s shoulder. “Just look at your hot pop star and shut up.”
Right on cue, her phone buzzes again.
Tara bites her lip, finally pulling it out.
Danny: Meet me in the parking lot when it’s over.
Tara stares at the screen. Speak of the devil. He really is here.
Whatever. She is just here with a friend. She didn’t do anything wrong, right?

Chapter 73
Bianca peeks at the message and wiggles her eyebrows. “Uh-oh. Someone is ready to collect his dues.”
Tara smooths her expression. “He’s probably just passing by.”
“Oh, sure. Passing by a sold-out arena,” Bianca laughs. “Did you even tell him you were coming?”
Tara goes silent. A very bad feeling washes over her.
After the encore, Tara hugs Bianca goodbye and heads alone toward the VIP parking garage. The cool night air sweeps over her, but it does nothing to slow her racing heart.
