Chapter 75

A calculating gleam flashes in Garrison’s eyes. “No rush. First, we dig up everything on this girl. I want to know exactly how deep their relationship goes.”

Marilyn nods in agreement. “And what about Dr. T?”

Garrison’s expression darkens instantly. “Keep searching! We have to find the doctor before Danny does. He cannot be allowed to recover.”

He immediately dials the private investigator, giving fresh, ruthless orders. This time, he is going to make sure Danny never bounces back.

Meanwhile, Danny pulls up to Tara’s apartment complex. Before she even unbuckles her seatbelt, his phone rings. It is his assistant.

“Boss,” his assistant reports, his tone clipped. “I just got word that Garrison is heavily mobilizing his people to find Dr. T. He’s also launched a full background check on Tara.”

Danny’s gaze turns glacial. “I see. Keep our people in the shadows. Watch their every move and report back.”

“Understood.”

Danny hangs up, his eyes narrowing as he processes the information. His uncle is losing his patience. Garrison is moving faster than anticipated, which means Danny has to tighten his

own net.

Upstairs, Tara kicks off her heels and shoots Bianca a quick text to say she made it home alive. She drops her phone on the counter and heads straight for the shower. By the time she steps out, towel-drying her hair, her screen is lit up with a relentless barrage of messages from Bianca.

[You guys were alone in that car for so long. Did anything happen?!]

[How is his body? Is it the ‘looks thin in clothes, ripped underneath’ type? Be honest, who has the better abs, him or Jaden?]

[Spill the details! How far did you go?]

Tara rolls her eyes so hard they ache. Her fingers fly across the screen. [Take your trashy mind out of the gutter. We are completely platonic. Good night!]

She tosses the phone face-down and buries herself in her blankets.

The next morning, Tara heads over to Kellen’s estate. The moment she walks into the sunlit living room, she finds her aunt and Keira cheerfully arranging fresh flowers in a crystal vase.

“You look glowing today, Aunt Kellen,” Tara says with a warm smile, setting down her medical bag and pulling out her stethoscope.

Kellen reaches out and affectionately squeezes her hand. “It’s all thanks to you, sweetheart. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t even be sitting here.”

“You’re going to live a long, happy life, Aunt Kellen. Don’t worry about a thing,” Tara reassures her.

“Are you hungry, Tara? I can have Martha whip up a cup of your favorite yogurt smoothie.”

“No rush. Let me check your vitals first. How are you sleeping? Any headaches?” Tara asks, all business.

“No headaches at all, and I’ve been sleeping like a baby,” Kellen smiles.
