The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 78

Chapter 78

Pearl slams her hand on the table, furious. “What the hell do you know? Keep your garbage mouth shut!”

Tara’s gaze lazily drifts to the massive diamond pendant resting on Pearl’s chest. “Is that necklace supposed to be Cartier? The clarity of the main stone is completely off, and the cut proportions are a mess. It’s not even a high-tier knockoff.”

Pearl’s face drains of color. She instinctively covers the necklace with her hand. “My dad bought this for me at the flagship store in Paris! It’s limited edition! If you say one more word, I will slap you across the face.”

Without breaking eye contact, Tara calmly pulls her phone from her clutch and taps the screen. “That’s funny. Every limited edition Cartier piece has a globally registered serial number.” She flips the screen to show a blank search registry, her dark eyes pinning Pearl to her seat. “Should we look up the serial number engraved on yours?”

Pearl’s hands start to shake. That’s impossible. Her dad wouldn’t lie to her.

Summer slams her palm on the table, trying to save her friend. “Tara, are you out of your mind? How dare you accuse Pearl of wearing fakes? We only let you sit here out of pity for Jade, and you’re trying to ruin the night?”

“I am just stating facts,” Tara says, her voice smooth and unbothered. “If you don’t believe me, we can video call the creative director of Cartier right now and have her verify it live.”

The entire table goes dead silent.

Caught in a trap with everyone staring at her, Pearl slowly unclasps the necklace and scans the tiny code engraved on the back.

The screen loads a completely blank page. No registry. No authentication. Nothing.

The socialites gasp.

“Don’t listen to her! She’s just playing mind games!” Summer shrieks, refusing to accept it.

Tara doesn’t argue. She simply reaches over, takes Keira’s wrist, and scans the Cartier Love bracelet Keira is wearing. Instantly, the screen populates with the bracelet’s authentication history, purchase date, and boutique location.

Tara offers a deadly, angelic smile. “See that? Keira’s is real. That is why it has a record.”

“You…!” Pearl chokes on her words, utterly humiliated. The worst part is, she realizes Tara is right-when she took the necklace off, she noticed a tiny chip in the plating on the clasp. She is wearing a cheap knockoff.

Jade panics. If Pearl blames her for this, her social standing will be ruined. “Tara, stop

making things up! Apologize to Pearl right now!”

Tara laughs, a soft, chilling sound. “Why are you panicking, Jade? I thought this was a luxury appraisal event?”

Tara shifts her gaze to the girl in the couture gown who had mocked her earlier. “The texture of your crocodile leather bag is far too uniform. Authentic exotic leather has natural, irregular scaling.”

She turns her sharp eyes to Summer. “And your watch. The spacing on the Patek Philippe logo on the dial is two millimeters wider than the authentic model.”
