Julianna is incredibly satisfied with the crowd's reaction, seamlessly using their panic to direct the blame entirely onto Tara.
"I handled all the arrangements for today. It is entirely impossible for this to be food poisoning. Every single item of food and drink was cleared by professional safety inspectors," Danny announces, stepping forward as the first line of defense. Many of the guests are well aware that he personally orchestrated the event. His authoritative statement immediately quiets the murmurs. As the formidable president of a multinational conglomerate, he has absolutely no reason to poison a room full of people. He isn't a sociopath. Furthermore, the crowd consists mostly of close friends and allied families.
"Then someone must have intentionally poisoned my aunt," Julianna declares.
She knows full well she cannot convict Tara on a simple accusation alone. So, she swiftly introduces a new narrative. Her venomous gaze sweeps the room before her voice spikes with rehearsed, tragic indignation. "My aunt never fights with anyone. The only way she could have offended someone is if she stood in their way!"
"I know I used to be Danny's fiancée, but we broke off that engagement a long time ago. We have nothing to do with each other. I begged you to let it go!"
Her implication is blindingly obvious. She is painting Tara as a wildly jealous, petty, and vindictive lunatic.
Danny's expression instantly darkens, a terrifying aura of fury radiating from him. He tightens his grip on Tara's slightly cold hand, his gaze slicing into Julianna like a physical blade. "Watch your mouth, Julianna! I know exactly who Tara is, better than anyone here! If you dare slander her again, I promise you will regret it!"
His voice isn't loud, but it drips with an absolute, icy dominance that forces the chaotic room into dead silence. Every person present can feel the sheer weight of his rage.
