The Scorned Heiress: No More Mercy novel Chapter 88

Chapter 88

Evan sits by the hospital bed, his heart aching as he gently holds Jade’s hand. Does it still

hurt?”

Jade shakes her head weakly, but the tears continue to stream down her bruised face Evan, I was so terrified. I really thought I was going to die in there with them…”

Evan looks at her with nothing but pure devotion. “You stupid girl. Don’t worry, we are going to make whoever did this pay.”

At that moment, Jake pushes the door open, his expression grim. “Evan, the thugs are gone

“What?” Evan jumps to his feet.

“While we were transporting them, a truck rammed into our convoy. In the chaos, all three of them managed to escape,” Jake says, his jaw tight with anger.

“That’s way too convenient. It was a coordinated hit,” Evan says, his brow furrowing deeply.

Underneath the hospital blankets, Jade lets out a silent sigh of relief. Shane is incredibly

efficient. Thank God.

Playing her role flawlessly, Jade shrinks back into the pillows, looking terrified. “Evan, Jake… just let it go. I’m safe now, and I just don’t want this blowing up into a massive scandal. I don’t want anyone to know what almost happened…”

“Jade, you are simply too kind for your own good. We absolutely cannot let this go!” Evan says passionately. He turns to Jake. “We have to dig until we find the truth.”

Jake nods, his eyes sharp. “I already have my men tracking those bastards down.”

The door swings open again, and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis rush into the room.

“Oh my god, Jade! My poor baby, why are you in the hospital again? What is happening?” Mrs. Dennis wails the second she sees her daughter’s battered face.

Evan steps back respectfully. “Mr. Dennis. Mrs. Dennis.”

Jake quickly intervenes. “Mom, Dad, we already have people looking into it.”

Jade bites her lip, lowering her gaze. “Jake, just let it go. I don’t blame my sister. I’m sure she just acted out of anger…”

She lets her sentence trail off perfectly, a single tear slipping down her cheek as she masterfully plays the heartbroken, forgiving victim.

Mrs. Dennis explodes instantly. “What? It was Tara? That vicious little psycho did this to you?”

Mr. Dennis’s face hardens into stone. “Jade, tell us exactly what happened right now.”

Between quiet sobs, Jade feeds them her fabricated nightmare ‘She called me and said whe wanted to talk But when I got to the warehouse, those horrible men were waiting for me They told me Tara paid them to ruin me… They said she hates me for stealing you all away from her…”

Her story is seamless and tragic.

Evan’s blood boils. “When did Tara become this deranged?”

Alec, standing quietly near the back, frowns. “Jade, are you absolutely sure those men explicitly said Tara hired them?”
