Chapter 96
Chapter 96
The crowd screams.
Tara, already anticipating the dirty move, instantly drops her reins and throws all her weight to the opposite side of the saddle. Wildfire agilely sidesteps the incoming mass. Obsidian, carrying far too much momentum and thrown off balance by Jade’s aggressive steering, careens out of control and slams violently into the wooden railing.
“Ah!” Jade is violently launched from the saddle, tumbling through the air before face-planting into a massive mud puddle on the other side of the fence.
Her expensive riding habit tears down the seam. Her perfectly styled hair is plastered to her face with wet dirt. She looks like a drowned rat.
Tara brings Wildfire to a graceful halt right at the edge of the puddle, looking down at her with icy disdain. “Is this the elite riding skill you were bragging about? Truly eye-opening.”
Without waiting for a response, Tara smoothly crosses the finish line. The winner is brutally
obvious.
Jade’s face contorts with blinding rage. She was so close!
Trembling and covered in filth, she scrambles to her feet and limps toward the finish line, her eyes burning with hatred. “You… you cheated!”
“Cheated?” Tara scoffs, her voice ringing out clearly. “Should we pull the security footage to see exactly who scattered iron nails all over the track?”
An uproar tears through the crowd.
Evan rushes over, his face pale. “Jade, what is she talking about-‘
“Evan, it wasn’t me! She set me up! That’s why my horse lost control!” Jade grabs his arm, sobbing hysterically.
Danny steps out from the crowd, coming to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Tara. His presence alone drops the temperature in the area. “There are high-definition cameras covering every inch of this track. We can pull the footage right now.”
Jade goes dead pale, her lips trembling.
Danny throws her a look of utter disgust and gestures to the manager. “Pull up the footage from the final stretch, timestamped ten minutes ago.”
Jade violently flinches. She grips Evan’s arm like a lifeline. “Evan… I don’t feel well. I need to go home.”
“A bet is a bet,” Tara’s voice slices through the air, cold and uncompromising. “You lost. Or did you forget our wager?”

Chapter 46
Jade shakes uncontrollably, her muddy makeup streaking down her face in terrifying lines “… …”
Evan looks at Tara, his eyes conflicted. “Tara, let it go. She was just acting out of anger-”
At that moment, a track employee walks up, holding a plastic bucket filled with sharp, rusted nails. Tara reaches in, grabs a handful, and tosses them directly at Jade’s boots.
“She tried to cause a fatal accident. You call this ‘acting out of anger’?”
Jade stares at the wicked metal spikes, her face draining of all blood. She tries to hide behind Evan, but he takes a firm step away, leaving her exposed.
Evan stares at her, looking thoroughly nauseated. “Jade… did you actually throw these?”
“No… it wasn’t me!” Jade stammers, but the lie dies in her throat as the manager hands Danny a tablet.
The high-definition video clearly shows Jade pulling a handful of nails from her pocket and maliciously scattering them across Tara’s lane.
The crowd erupts in absolute disgust.
“Psycho! She could have killed her!”
