Natalie nodded, picked up her fork, and began to eat.

When she returned to the hotel that evening, she was stopped at the front desk.
“Hello, miss. Are you the guest in Room 1303?”
The receptionist remembered her clearly, with her stunning looks and poised aura, she was hard to forget!
Natalie stopped. “Is something wrong?”
“Well, to celebrate the SAT season, our hotel is offering free room upgrades to all students staying with us for the exams.”
The receptionist gave a sweet smile and handed over a new card. “Your room has been upgraded to an executive suite. Here is your new key. Good luck with your exams!”
Natalie took the card, her expression as calm as ever, and gave a brief word of thanks.
Blondie managed to snag a room right next to hers.
Once in the elevator, Blondie rubbed his chin and muttered, “Boss, isn’t this a bit too convenient? First the free feast at the restaurant, now a suite upgrade… something feels fishy.”
Natalie looked at her reflection in the elevator mirror and said indifferently, “If someone wants to give, just take it.”
Blondie got the hint immediately and grinned. “Got it! Then let’s enjoy the high life!”
The executive suite was spacious and bright. The bedroom even featured sleep-aid aromatherapy and a soothing sound system.
A brand-new set of stationery was arranged neatly on the desk next to an elegant fruit platter and a handwritten card: Good luck on the SATS.
Natalie picked up the card. The handwriting was sharp and forceful, pressing deep into the paper.
She tossed the card back, opened her laptop, and uploaded two pre-written chapters of Daybreak.
Blondie, sprawled on the sofa scrolling through his phone, suddenly sat bolt upright. “Boss, look at the trending topics!”
The hashtag #Jason MitchellSwarmedAtAirport was ranked third. Clicking in revealed several blurry snapshots of Jason Mitchell in a mask and hat, walking hurriedly through a dense crowd, looking quite flustered.

The comments were full of sympathy:
[His itinerary was leaked again. Stalker fans, please stay out of his personal life!]
[Is he headed to Seaside City? I thought he was filming in the mountains.]
[I heard all five Mitchell brothers are there. What’s big enough to pull them all in…]
[Stop speculating and focus on his work!]
Blondie clicked his tongue. “This superstar is really popular.”
He looked up at Natalie. “Boss, do you know him?”
Natalie didn’t even look up. “No.”
Blondie shrugged and went back to his phone.
His butt had barely touched the cushion before he bounced up again. “Wait! Boss, you updated?”
He turned his phone screen toward Natalie.

The topic #DaybreakUpdate was climbing at an incredible speed, hitting the top five in the blink of an eye.
The comment section exploded instantly:
[OMG, Bluebell updated! A miracle! I thought we’d have to wait until after the SATS!]
[Two chapters! Two whole chapters! It’s like Christmas!]
[This plot twist is insane! I knew that prosecutor was shady!]
[Is Bluebell taking the SATS too? Updating at a time like this… I’m tearing up…]
[Same here. Bluebell, take care of yourself and good luck with the exams!]
Blondie scrolled through the screen, amazed. “Boss, your fan loyalty is insane. It’s only been a few minutes and there are over ten thousand comments.”
He leaned in and lowered his voice, “Seriously, writing right before an exam… your nerves are made of steel. I’m impressed.”
Natalie closed her laptop, her expression neutral. “They were just pre-written.”
She checked her phone, it was getting late. She went to wash up for bed.
While she was in the bathroom, Blondie binged the new chapters. He was right at the climax when it ended.
He was right at the turning point-the protagonist found a key piece of evidence pointing to a totally unexpected character, and then the chapter stopped, leaving a heart-wrenching cliffhanger.

He scratched his head, feeling like a cat was clawing at his curiosity. “Boss! What happens next? Is the security captain a scapegoat? Was the evidence tampered with?”
The shower stopped. Natalie walked out applying her skincare products.
“That’s it.”
She spoke without a hint of emotion. “I’m out of pre-written chapters.”
“What?!”
Blondie wailed, “Boss, you can’t do this! This is more agonizing than taking the actual exam!”
Natalie ignored his antics and walked straight to the bed.
“It’s late. Go back to your room,” she said.
“Boss, couldn’t you just give me a tiny spoiler?”
Blondie wouldn’t give up, gesturing with his fingers and looking hopeful. “Just a tiny bit! I swear I won’t tell anyone! Otherwise, I won’t be able to sleep, and how am I supposed to escort you to the exam center all energized tomorrow?”
Natalie pulled back the covers and closed her eyes.
“If you can’t sleep, go read some SAT prep books.”
Blondie was speechless.
He knew when Natalie said something, she meant it. If he lingered any longer, he’d probably be kicked out literally.
He hung his head and shuffled toward the door, muttering under his breath, “So cruel. Truly cruel.”
To think that “Bluebell,” the author of the viral mystery novel Daybreak, was right here, yet he couldn’t find out what happened next. Life was so unfair!
At the door, he couldn’t help turning back. “Boss, what do you want for breakfast? I’ll get it ready.”
“Whatever.”
Natalie’s voice already sounded sleepy.
“You got it!”
Blondie gently closed the door.
