Chapter 171 Such A Gold–Digger
“Wait, isn’t this supposed to be some messy drama?‘
‘Shouldn’t there be a catfight over a guy right now?‘
‘Since when has Olivia ever been this friendly to any girl hanging around Ryan?‘
‘She even picked up Natalie’s military training uniform ahead of time?‘
‘And she actually knows Natalie’s size?‘
‘This isn’t how things are supposed to play out!‘
As the group walked through the campus, they became a striking sight at Redvale University.
Isabelle, standing off to the side, clutched the military training uniform with a bitter, resentful look on her face, her finger gripping the straps so tightly it looked like she might tear them apart.
‘Why does she get to look so glamorous?‘ Isabelle thought bitterly.
‘She was just a fake heiress who got kicked out, so how did she suddenly become the Mitchell family’s princess in Harb City?
‘She even messed up my apprenticeship banquet and got me thrown in jail!
‘Why is life so unfair? She ruined my life, so why does she get to live so well?‘
“Don’t get worked up, Emma. Maybe she and Lucas are just friends,” a girl next to Isabelle said.
Isabelle turned to see two girls standing beside her.
“Seriously, what’s there to get mad about? They’re just friends,” Emma said, wearing a pink and white dress, as she shot a look at Natalie’s back.
Even though Emma said that, her brows were so tightly knitted they could probably kill two flies.
‘She says it’s nothing, but she’s clearly pissed, Isabelle thought, watching Emma’s expression.
“Exactly, they’re just friends. You’re the heiress of the Archer family, and you and Lucas are a perfect match. So what if she the top scorer in the SAT? In the end, she’ll just be working for you,” Teresa chimed in.
She followed up, echoing Emma’s words.
Isabelle stood a few steps away, catching every word of Emma and Teresa’s conversation.
‘Emma? The Archer family?‘ Isabelle thought.
‘There’s only one Archer family in Harbor City, right?
‘Could Emma really be the Archer family’s heiress?‘
The Archer family was big in the new energy business, riding high these past few years. They weren’t exactly one of the ol -money elites, but they were definitely the new kids on the block.
‘So she’s got a thing for Lucas, huh?‘ Isabelle mused.
A slow smirk crept across Isabelle’s face. ‘Well, isn’t this exactly the weapon I’ve been looking for?‘

Holding the military training uniform, Isabelle smoothed her hair, put on an innocent and gentle look, and walked over to Emma Archer.
“Hi, excuse me, are you Emma Archer?” Isabelle asked.
Her voice was neither too loud nor too soft, with just the right touch of hesitation. “Sorry, I happened to overhear your conversation… Do you know Natalie as well?”
Emma Archer was already pissed off, and as soon as she heard the name ‘Natalie,‘ she whipped her head around and gave Isabelle a once–over.
“Who are you?” Emma Archer asked.
Isabelle lowered her head slightly, looking hesitant. “My name is Isabelle Grant, from the Grant family in Seaside City. I. used to be Natalie’s… sister.”
“Used to be her sister?” Emma Archer raised an eyebrow.
“What do you mean by that?” Emma Archer asked, her tone laced with curiosity.
Emma Archer knew about the Grant family from Seaside City. They were doing pretty well a few years ago, but her dad had mentioned they’d started to go downhill this year.

Isabelle bit her lip, like she was steeling herself to speak.
to it okay if I call you Emma? I just wanted to give you a heads–up. Natalie’s not as simple as she looks. Don’t let her look foot you,” Isabelle said, her voice soft but full of warning.
Emma Archer’s interest was piqued. She shifted to the side, motioning for Isabelle to come closer.
“What do you mean?” Emma asked, her tone curious.
Isabelle stepped up to Emma Archer, lowering her voice, sounding both aggrieved and like she was holding something
back.
“Back when she was living with us, she really knew how to play the game.
“She’d act all sweet and innocent, playing the victim, and everyone fell for it.
“But once she climbed up the social ladder, she dumped her old family without a second thought.”
“Her old family?” Emma Archer frowned.
“Come on, spill it,” She said, her tone impatient.
Isabelle let out a sigh, as if dredging up some bad memories.
“I’m the real heiress of the Grant family. I was only found a few months ago. Natalie was the adopted daughter who grew up with us, but after I came back, she started acting out and making my life miserable.
“After she got kicked out, God knows how, but she managed to worm her way into the Mitchell and Rivers families.
“You wouldn’t believe the things she’d do just to climb higher.”
Teresa’s eyes lit up as she listened. “For real? She’s the fake heiress your family kicked out?”
Isabelle nodded, sounding so sincere you’d never think she was lying.
“Why would I make this up? I don’t even have any real grudge against her. I just can’t stand how she’s always lying to everyone. If she keeps this up, it’ll just make our family look bad.
“And honestly, she barely even went to school. She was just some delinquent, dead last in her class for three years. No ide how she suddenly became the top scorer on the SAT!”
She was basically saying Natalie must’ve cheated on the SAT.
Teresa’s jaw dropped. “No way, is that for real? She’s got some nerve, actually daring to…”
She didn’t dare finish her sentence.
Isabelle didn’t push the topic any further, just kept talking to herself, barely paying attention to Emma’s reaction.
“I honestly have no clue how she managed to get in with Lucas. And the way he treats her…” Isabelle let her words trail off, leaving Emma to imagine the rest.
Isabelle paused perfectly, and Emma’s blood started to boil again just thinking about how Lucas had acted earlier. Isabelle smirked, lowering her voice. “She’s just using Lucas to climb the social ladder. Once she finds someone even higher up, she’ll kick him to the curb without a second thought.”
Emma’s face grew darker and darker.
r
She’d been chasing Lucas for two years, but he always kept things strictly polite, never letting her get close. ‘Why does this sly fox show up out of nowhere and snag what I can’t have?‘ Emma fumed.
‘And on top of that, she wants to use Lucas too?‘
