“She’s just taking it. She was su Tierce with Natalie earlier, and now that Lucas is here, she’s crying. Who’s she trying to fool? “There’s no smoke without fire. I bet this is true, and she’s just refusing to admit ”

Lucas strode up to the stage, shooting a glance at Emma, who looked like a total mess, then shifted his attention to Natalie. He still looked pretty confused. He had no clue what was going on All he knew was what the student council member on duty had told him. Natalie and Emma had gotten into a fight, so he hurried over right away.

Lucas looked worried. “Are you okay?”

Natalie waved him off, and Lucas turned to Ryan and Evan, who were standing nearby, giving them a look that clearly asked, What happened?’

Both of them looked serious and didn’t say a word.

Emma felt a sharp sting from Lucas’s cold indifference. She’d been after him for ages. Even if there was nothing romantic between them, after more than three years as classmates, even as just friends, he shouldn’t treat her like this, right? ‘Anyone with eyes could see I was the one getting bullied, but he’s so blind he actually asked that bitcr, if she was okay? 1 showed up before Natalie, so why does she get everything handed to her so easily, while I get nothing?’ Emma wondered, feeling frustrated.

Emma let out a self-mocking laugh. “Lucas, are you blind or what? Can’t you see I’m the one getting bullied here?”

Lucas just frowned and didn’t even spare her a glance.

Emma wiped her tears and looked out at the crowd, her voice rough but purposely louder.

“Hey everyone, teachers, classmates. Today I was supposed to be giving a speech up here, but I don’t even know what I did

to piss her off. First she started spreading rumors about me, then got a bunch of people to jump me.

“With all their connections and power, I get why everyone just watched. But I just want some fairness here. Why am I getting blamed for something I didn’t even do?

“And come on, I’m a law student. If I really did something that awful, would I even dare stand here and talk about it?” Emma’s voice echoed through the spacious lecture hall, thick with tears and the kind of desperate resolve you only get when you’re backed into a corner.

“I’ve spent three years in law school. I know where the legal boundaries are, and I would never cross them. With all these leaders, teachers, and classmates watching, I swear to God…”

She raised her right hand, tears rolling down her face, her voice trembling. “If I really did those things, may I never have a good ending.”

The crowd started whispering again.

Some people were actually moved by her words, thinking that anyone who’d make such a harsh vow in front of everyone probably wouldn’t do something like that.

Others weren’t convinced, feeling like there had to be more to the story.

“Honestly… we can’t just decide so quickly. Natalie can’t just come in swinging without any proof, right?”

“Yeah, Emma really doesn’t seem like that kind of person!”

Natalie leaned against the podium, arms crossed, just quietly watching Emma put on her little show.

She smirked and was the first to clap. “Not bad, top of the law school. But honestly, you missed your calling as an actress.”

Evan chimed in, “Yeah, I was this close to tearing up myself!”

Their blunt remarks nearly shattered the confidence Emma had just managed to build up, but she deliberately avoided looking at them.

‘Once my dad gets here, everything will be okay,’ Emma reassured herself.

Emma had just exchanged a glance with Teresa backstage, telling her to call her dad right away.

The Archer family might not be a major player in Harbor City, but going up against a girl who’d been kicked out and left to fend for herself? That was more than manageable for them.

Plus, Emma was convinced Natalie had zero evidence. She had this almost irrational confidence in her own abilities, and she was sure the Mitchell family, Rivers family, and Hale family would never let their sons get mixed up with someone as

scandalous as Natalie

No Way any of these families would ever lift a finger to help Natalie.

So she had to stand her ground!

Natalie took a deep breath and stood tall. “You won’t believe it until you see the hard proof, huh? Looking for evidence?”

She smirked. “Fine, I’m pretty accommodating. If that’s what you want, I’ll make it happen.”

With that, she moved over to the computer hooked up to the big screen and began working the controls.

Emma panicked for a second and tried to stop her, but before she could even get close, Evan kicked her hard, sending her flying.

Evan didn’t hesitate for a second, his shoe slammed into Emma’s side, and she went flying, hitting the ground hard and skidding across the floor for several feet before finally coming to a stop.

The crowd went into chaos.

“Someone’s hitting! Someone’s hitting again!”

“Oh my god, call an ambulance!”

“Call the cops! Call the cops!”

Some people stood up and tried to rush the stage, but others held them back. A few were already filming everything on their phones.

A lot of people were so shocked they covered their mouths, their eyes wide as saucers.

Emma was sprawled on the floor, curled up in pain, her face smeared with tears and cold sweat.

Blood oozed from the corner of her mouth, mixing with the swelling from Ryan’s slap earlier, leaving half her face puffed up.

She tried to get up, but her side throbbed like she’d been hit by a car. She couldn’t muster any strength at all.

All she could do was lie there, staring at the crowd with an almost hopeless look in her eyes.

‘Damn it, Dad still isn’t here. What if that bitch Natalie actually has real evidence against me?’ Emma thought, panic flooding

her chest.

She couldn’t risk it. If Natalie really had proof, she’d be done for.

Emma was so desperate she almost wanted to fake fainting just to get out of this mess, but then the principal slammed his hand on the table. “Enough!”

He spoke so loudly that the whole chaotic lecture hall instantly fell silent.

Emma snapped out of her act, her heart racing. ‘Is the principal finally going to have my back?’ she wondered.

‘Is someone finally going to put an end to this mess?’ Emma thought, hope flickering inside her.

Her eyes welled up again, but this time it wasn’t just for show. She was genuinely feeling a mix of hurt and anticipation.

She used every ounce of strength to lift her head, shooting the principal in the front row a look that practically screamed, ‘I’ ve been waiting for you.’

The principal’s face was so severe, his frown looked like it could kill a fly. He stood up, adjusted his glasses, and swept his gaze across the room. Everyone held their breath.

“Nobody is allowed to call the police, nobody is allowed to record videos, and nothing from this room is to leave these walls. No one is allowed to leave, either. If I catch anyone breaking these rules, you’ll be expelled, no questions asked!”
