Chapter 230
Natalie’s face stayed calm, showing no emotion at all.
She released her hand, stood up, and gently pulled the thin blanket that bad slipped down Jacob’s shoulders back up, tucking it snugly around him.
Then she turned and headed into the kitchen, with Larkin following right behind
From the kitchen came the sound of the medicine pot lid rattling from the steam, and the bitter scent of medicine quickly filled the whole courtyard.
Henry Pierce stayed where he was, not following them inside. He glanced at Jacob, who was still asleep, then sat down in the spot Larkin had just vacated, keeping an eye on the medicine.
Inside the kitchen, Natalie took out some coffee beans to make coffee..
“How’s Grandpa been this week?” Larkin asked, keeping his voice low.
He stood nearby, quietly watching.
Natalie replied, “He’s a bit more energetic than last week, and he’s eating a little more. Yesterday, he even went up the mountain to visit Grandma. He walked for over an hour and didn’t even say he was tired when he got back.”
She paused. “But he still sleeps a lot. Sometimes he just dozes off in the middle of a conversation.”
Natalie didn’t say anything, just kept her hands busy.
Larkin nodded. “Alright, I got it.”
She quickly brewed a pot of coffee, and Larkin brought it out/
He glanced at Henry Pierce, who was fanning the fire under the medicine pot, then set the coffee cups on the stone table in the courtyard.
Then he walked over to Henry Pierce with a smile. “Let me take over, Mr. Pierce. You go sit down and have some coffee
Henry Pierce didn’t refuse. He handed over the bamboo fan and stood up.
“Natalie’s home…” Jacob’s voice floated over from the lounge chair, soft as a falling leaf.
Henry Pierce turned his head. Jacob had woken up at some point and was looking toward the kitchen, his gaze a hute unfocused, but he was smiling faintly.
“Grandpa, Natalie said softly.
Hearing Jacob’s voice, Natalie came out of the kitchen. Seeing him trying to sit up, she hurried over and helped him se upright.
Henry Pierce walked over and tucked the thin blanket snugly around Jacob, making sure it didn’t ship to the floor
Jacob’s gaze shifted to Henry Pierce’s face. He stared at him for a few seconds, and a spark of curiosity the kered in his hazy
eyes.
“Natalie, is this your friend?” Jacob asked.

Chapter 239-
His voice was soft, his speech a bit slow, but every word was clear.
Henry Pierce looked straight at Jacob and nodded with a gentle smile. “Yes, Grandpa.
Jacob looked at him for a few more seconds, then stailed.
“That’s nice. Natalie’s never brought a friend over before,” Jacob said.
He glanced at Natalie, then at Henry Pierce, smiling happily.

Hearing that, Henry Pierce couldn’t help but glance at Natalie. He kept his face calm, but inside, he was feeling proud and secretly thrilled.
Natalie didn’t say anything. She just poured a cup of coffee and brought it over to him.
acob took the cup, stared at Henry Pierce for a moment, and muttered to himself, ‘Wait a second, this young man looks really familiar. Have I seen you somewhere before?‘
Natalie didn’t think much of it. After all, Henry Pierce’s face was always popping up in the news and business magazines.
She figured Jacob must have seen him online at some point.
Henry Pierce smiled warmly and leaned in a little. “Grandpa, who do you think I look like?”
acob let out a soft hiss and blinked, as if something had just clicked in his mind, but he wasn’t quite sure.
Kaiden Pierce… is he your grandfather?” Jacob asked.
You’ve got a sharp eye, Jacob. He is my grandfather,” Henry Pierce replied.
Jacob’s eyes went wide for a moment, then he looked Henry over again and nodded.
You really do look like him. No wonder you have that familjar look.”
He couldn’t help but feel a bit emotional. “When your grandfather passed away, I was overseas and couldn’t be there to say goodbye one last time.”
His voice was rough, like he had a lump in his throat he just couldn’t get rid of.
Henry Pierce lowered his gaze. His grandfather had died before he was even born, and he only ever heard a couple stones from his grandma about what his grandfather was like.
He knew Jacob and his grandfather had been classmates back in the day and were really tight

He had no idea Jacob had been living out here in seclusion, or he would’ve come to visit hun ages ago, like ten years back
Henry Pierce reached out and helped Jacob steady the cup in his hand.
Staring at Henry’s face, which bore a striking resemblance to his old friend, Jacob was momentarily lost in thought. You really do look like your grandfather”
Henry Pierce nodded. “That’s what people always tell me.”
Jacob glanced at Natalie standing nearby. “Guess that’s just destiny”
“What time is it?” Jacob asked, sounding a bit tired.
Chapter 230-
was waiting to feel sleepy again as he spoke.
Natalie glanced at her watch ‘Almost eleven.”
“Alright. Natalie, go pick some veggies from the patch on the hill,” Jacob said.
Then he turned to Larkin. “Larkin, fire up the stove and start cooking. I’ll catch a nap, just wake me when the pastas ready
Natalie nodded, and as soon as Jacob finished speaking, he closed his eyes and drifted off again.
“I’ll go with you.” Henry Pierce offered.
Natalie nodded, grabbed a couple of hoes that felt just right from the pile of tools by the wall, and picked up a few large baskets.
The veggie patch wasn’t far. They followed the winding stone path, and in less than five minutes, they arrived.
The patch was small, fenced in, with clusters of honeysuckle growing at the gate, their vines weaving all over the fence.
They pushed open the rustic gate, and inside, the garden was laid out in tidy rows, cabbages, radishes, eggplants, and cucumbers all lined up perfectly. The leaves shone glossy under the sunlight, looking fresh and full of life.
Natalie crouched down and started pulling up radishes, her movements smooth and expert.
Henry Pierce had already ditched his jacket by the time he came out. Now he rolled up his sleeves, going for the biggest
ggplants.
After picking some eggplants, he moved on to cucumbers, then went over to help Natalie with the radishes, lining them up n the baskets.
Natalie glanced over at him and raised an eyebrow.
