Natalie’s last move looked almost careless, like she’d just tossed it down without a second thought, but once it landed, the situation in the lower left corner changed completely.
Calvin’s eyes widened in shock as he realized the whole direction of the game had shifted.
No matter what he did, he’d end up losing out in the exchanges that followed.
He felt an invisible pressure weighing down on him. He paused for three or four minutes, and Natalie, growing bored, awned and idly played with a strand of hair on her chest.
she spaced out for a bit, still staring at the board, before finally seeing Calvin make his move.
Natalie glanced up at Calvin again, noticing he was sweating heavily.
He took a deep breath and placed his white piece in what looked like a safe spot.
Natalie didn’t even pause. She immediately dropped her black piece, as if she’d known exactly where he’d play.
Sweat dripped down Calvin’s forehead and along his nose. He wiped it away, his fingers trembling.
He blinked in disbelief, glancing from the board to Natalie and back again.
Seriously? That quick?
Did she even think about it?
What even is that move?’
…
By now, some of the other games had finished, and people started gathering around to watch. Someone whispered, “What’s hat black move supposed to be?”
Natalie placed her final piece, and Calvin’s white dragon was completely slaughtered. There was no hope for a comeback
Dow
His fingers hovered over the bowl, unable to make a move. His face went from red to pale, then to a hickly green
The referee walked over, glanced at the board, and started counting the score.
Natalie leaned back in her chair, quietly waiting for it to be over
The referee announced that black had won by resignation
Calvin felt that losing to someone this strong was almost liberating, like he’d been set free
He knew he’d never dare underestimate anyone again
Calvin stood up and bowed deeply to Natale, almost tolding himself in half.
“Thank you for the lesson. You played amazingly,” he said.

Chapter 24 –
His voice was tight like he’d just been pulled out of water and was still gasping for air.
Natalie glanced at him and gave a slight nod. “Good game.”
After the round ended. Natalie went to the registration desk and signed in.
The tournament lasted five days, with two rounds each day, one in the morning and one in five afternoon, with players advancing through each round.
By the time the morning round was over, it was already past eleven. Natalie, wanting to keep things simple, decided to just get a room at the hotel.
But when she got to the front desk, they told her all room types were fully booked.
Natalie blinked and asked, “No suites left either?”
From what she knew, big hotels always had those super pricey, fancy suites that hardly anyone ever booked. Usually only big shots on business trips would stay in them.
And with the Go tournament happening, it was even less likely anyone would book one at this time.
The front desk manager looked surprised. “You mean the presidential suite?”
“Five days. Please book it,” Natalie said, straightforwardly.
She took out a black card and handed it to the front desk, not even blinking.
The manager, seeing Natalie was just a young woman, assumed she couldn’t handle the price of the presidential suite, so he hadn’t brought it up. He was caught off guard when she handed over a black card so casually.
But he still shook his head. “Sorry, we only have one presidential suite left, and Mr. Pierce’s assistant just called to reserve it
Natalie raised an eyebrow. “Henry Pierce?”
“Yes, ma’am,” the manager replied.
Natalie nodded, put her card away, and was just about to leave when her phone rang.
She swiped to answer, “What’s up?”
Henry’s deep, magnetic voice came through the line. “Are you at the Darshan Hotel
Natalic replied with a simple “Mm” “What’s up?”
“Nothing I booked you a room. You can just relax there at noon.” Henry said.
Natalie turned back, phone in hand, and asked. “How did you know I was here?
Henry chuckled softly. Just a guess Looks like I nailed it, huh?”
Natalie didn’t press further “Thanks, but you didn’t need to
Henry paused for a second, probably picturing her expression, and couldn’t help but let out a few soft laughs
Natalie hung up and walked back to the front desk

he manager still had that awkward look on his face as he saw her return.
Is there anything else I can help you with, ma’am?” he asked.
Natalie simply gave Henry’s name and the last four digits of the reservation phone number.
1355 youcien
The manager froze for a second, quickly checked the computer, and when he looked up, his awkwardness had turned into full-on respect.
When Henry’s assistant made the reservation, he did say it was for a lady. He just hadn’t realized it was her standing right
here.
“Miss Moore?” the manager asked.
“Mr. Pierce booked the presidential suite for you. Right this way, please,” he said.
He handed her the room key with both hands and offered to escort her upstairs, but Natalie just waved him off, took the ke and went up on her own.
She’d barely stepped inside when the doorbell rang.
Natalie opened the door to find Henry standing there, with two hotel staff rolling in a food cart behind him.
The cart was loaded with several dishes, each covered by a silver dome, steam curling up from underneath.
The dishes didn’t have the hotel’s logo. Henry had gone out of his way to order food from a different restaurant.
He was dressed in a deep gray trench coat over a black turtleneck, his hair perfectly styled with a few loose strands falling across his forehead.
On his left wrist, he wore the bracelet she’d given him, the deep brown beads looked surprisingly good against his cool. pale
