Chapter 261
In terms of closeness, Dominic was definitely the one closest to Chris. But Zac had grown up with them too. They were like brothers. He couldn’t just stand by and watch Zac push himself this hard. What if he really worked himself to death?
Dominic was already sick with worry over both of them. Seriously, what had he done to deserve this?
“What I mean is, Eugene brought this on himself. Go after him if you want. He deserves it. But Zac didn’t do anything wrong. No, that isn’t completely true. He did do something wrong. He shouldn’t have gone after Winter. But still, he hasn’t done anything too far.”
After saying all that, Dominic had hoped Chris’s expression might ease up a little.
Instead, before he spoke, Chris had only looked grim. After he finished, Chris’s expression turned even darker.
What had he said wrong?
“Eugene hasn’t even started suffering yet,” Chris said coldly. “As for the rest of the Davis family, that has nothing to do with me.”
“You…” Dominic clicked his tongue.
Then he stopped.
“That has nothing to do with me…” Dominic repeated to himself, turning the words over in his mind.
Then it hit him.
Chris only meant to go after Eugene. Whatever happened to the rest of the Davis family was none of his concern. Which meant that as long as Dominic stayed out of what Chris planned to do to Eugene, helping Zac here and there wasn’t something Chris would interfere with.
Dominic finally let out a quiet breath of relief.
Chris’s mind worked in twists and turns, and Dominic was probably the only one who could keep up with it. No wonder they had been close since before they were even born.
“Oh, right. There’s one more thing. I almost forgot the most important part.” Dominic stubbed out his cigarette, then pulled a report from his coat pocket and handed it to Chris.
“This is the test report on the incense from your grandmother’s room, along with the tea she drank and the food she ate. Everything Gavin gave me, I had tested.”
“Don’t worry. I used people I trust. There’s no way there was a mistake, and no one could have tampered with it.”
Chris took the report and looked at the final result:
