Chapter 292
“What the hell are you thinking?” Chris asked, his cool tone edged with clear contempt for Dominic’s intelligence.
Dominic fired back, “Then you tell me what the hell this is.”
Who would believe it?
Chris ran Xander Corporation. He was the head of the Xander family. But in the middle of the night, this cold, arrogant man had put in colored contacts, slapped on fake scars, and even worn a muscle suit. Then he had risked ruining his reputation just to sneak out of detention.
Who out there was worth that much trouble?
Gavin walked over expressionlessly, took the muscle suit from Dominic’s hand, and packed it neatly into a case with practiced ease.
He was so smooth about it that Dominic had the strange feeling this was something they did all the time.
Dominic blinked, then stared at them like he had been personally betrayed. “Are you two plotting something behind my back? Am I the outsider now?”
“I’m the one who got too built,” Gavin said for no apparent reason.
Dominic looked even more confused. “What does that have to do with how built you are?”
“Why are you asking so many questions?” Chris said.
He finished getting dressed and tapped a cigarette out of the pack, then set it between his lips.
A few strands of damp hair had fallen over his forehead from washing his face earlier. Head lowered as he lit the cigarette, his jawline looked sharp enough to cut glass. There was something cold and distant about him, something impossible to read.
Dominic’s suspicious gaze moved back and forth between Chris and Gavin.
He tried to suppress his curiosity, but it was useless. Finally, he dropped onto the edge of Chris’s bed.
“Just tell me. Who did you go out to see?”
Chris frowned slightly and exhaled a stream of smoke. Then his lips moved.
“A woman.”
Dominic snorted. “Oh, sure. Like you’d sneak out for a woman…”
Then he suddenly sucked in a breath and lowered his voice like he was sharing state secrets.
“Wait. Winter?”
Chris only kept smoking in silence. He didn’t say yes, and he didn’t say no. But Dominic’s gut told him that was exactly who Chris had gone to see,
Because who else could it possibly be?
