The Scorned Heiress's Hidden Empire (by Jade Quinn) novel Chapter 299

hapter 299

“Winnie…” Steve’s bloodied mouth opened as his red-rimmed eyes locked onto Winter on the bed.

Like a dying beast, he struggled to lunge toward her.

But before he could even finish saying her name, the strong hand gripping his collar tightened sharply. It lifted him clear off the ground, then slammed him down with brutal force the next second.

Steve heard the crack of bone on impact. His eyes were bloodshot, and a broken sound finally forced its way out of his throat. But his mouth was so full of blood that he couldn’t get Winter’s name out at all.

Downstairs, Zion had already brought people to seal off the entire villa. When Sean walked into the room, the first thing he saw was Steve crumpled in the corner, barely conscious, his face covered in blood. One of his wrists was clearly broken, and one leg was pinned under a boot.

The one doing it was a tall, powerfully built man in a black baseball cap and black mask.

He looked like death itself had climbed out of hell. The cold force of his presence and the violence radiating from him filled the room, sending a chill through anyone who stepped inside.

He had actually gotten there before them.

Then, in the dead silence of the room, a woman’s low, suppressed moan broke through. It was soft and faint, but enough to make Sean turn his attention away from the man in black.

He looked toward the bed.

The woman on it was covered from the shoulders up by a blanket, including her head. But her frame twisted restlessly. Her pale, delicate feet were tangled together, rubbing frantically against the sheets in a show of unbearable agitation.

Sean’s unreadable eyes shifted slightly. He strode over and reached for the blanket.

A gloved hand shot out and blocked him.

Sean looked up, his expression calm.

Roy didn’t even look at him. Instead, he pulled off his bloodstained black glove and tossed it to the floor. Then he stepped forward, gathered Winter up together with the blanket, and carried her out of the room in his arms.

Zion came hurrying up the stairs. The moment he saw Roy carrying someone, he rushed over.

“G, what happened to Ms. Scott?”

It was as if Roy couldn’t see anyone else. He carried Winter straight downstairs, placed her in the back seat of the black SUV, walked around to the driver’s side, got in, and sped off.
