Chapter 300
“Wait a little longer,” Roy said, his low voice rough with strain.
By then, Winter had lost all sense of reason. She couldn’t hear what he was saying. She didn’t know where she was, and she couldn’t recognize the man in front of her.
All she knew was that she desperately wanted the agony inside her to stop. It felt as if a fire were burning through her body, and she needed something, anything, to put it out.
She only wanted relief.
The violent effects tearing through her made her desperate for some way to escape them. Her fingers clutched at Roy’s cool jacket, but that only seemed to make the torment worse.
She leaned over the back of the driver’s seat, her feverish fingertips sliding past his collar, searching for skin.
Suddenly, a large hand caught hers through the fabric of his clothes and held it tight.
That hand was trembling. The force of his restraint was so intense it felt as if he were barely holding himself together.
When her hand was stopped, the unbearable wave inside her had nowhere to go. In her confusion, she lunged toward him, her teeth catching his earlobe.
She gasped into his ear, her breath a scalding haze.
“I’ll pay you,” she said breathlessly. “I have money. A lot of money.”
Roy’s whole body went rigid. The veins in his neck stood out sharply as he took a hard breath and slammed his foot down on the gas.
The SUV sped into the mouth of an abandoned tunnel. As soon as it stopped, he kicked the door open, got out, yanked open the rear door, and lifted Winter into the back seat of a black Bentley parked nearby.
At the same time, someone else drove the SUV away.
The Bentley door slammed shut.
Roy tore off his mask and cap.
There was no longer any disguise. Chris’s cold, sharply defined face was fully revealed, the corners of his eyes slightly red.
His arm wrapped tightly around Winter’s waist. He leaned down and crushed his lips against her soft, moaning mouth, his tongue forcing a path inside with predatory dominance.
A broken sound escaped her throat.
It was a kiss more ferocious and consuming than the fire in her blood. Winter let out a shuddering sigh, her hands instinctively flying up to wind around his neck, lifting her head to meet a kiss that felt like it wanted to swallow
her whole.
His burning hands tore at the neckline of her gown, the fabric sliding down her shoulders. The sudden wave of intense pleasure offered a flicker of relief.
