The Scorned Heiress's Hidden Empire (by Jade Quinn) novel Chapter 326

Chapter 326

Back then, when he told her to stay at Blackwood Manor for two weeks, it had sounded like he meant to give her an answer. Even though she had left before the time was up, the two weeks had come and gone, and nothing around her had changed.

Nothing at all.

He had even gone back on his deal with William.

There was no way she would ever believe him again.

“If I have no credibility left,” Chris said evenly as he set the cup back on the coffee table and tightened his arms around her, “then there’s nothing to discuss. I’ll just take you with me.‘

Winter’s eyes hardened. “Do you not understand plain English?”

Without another word, Chris lifted her and carried her toward the front door. When he reached it, he stopped, took her scarf off the hook, and draped it over her face, covering both her mouth and her eyes. Her hands were pinned, so she couldn’t pull it off.

“I don’t want to go with you. Didn’t you hear me?”

Her angry voice came out muffled through the scarf.

Chris stepped into the elevator and looked down at her in his arms. Even through the thin fabric, he could make out the delicate lines of her face.

By the time they got into the car, he had her sitting on his lap. The scarf slipped down, and the moment she opened her eyes, she met his cold, unreadable gaze.

“Go find your Skyla. Don’t touch me with those filthy hands.”

Suddenly, Chris slid one hand behind her head and pulled her closer. As he lowered his head, he pressed her face against the hollow of his neck. His breathing was uneven.

“How many times do I have to say it? She’s not my…”

“She’s not your Skyla. Fine, I got it,” Winter cut in carelessly. “Who she is to you is none of my business.”

Chris tightened his arms around her. His voice dropped. “Winter.”

Winter fought to wrench herself free. “I want out of this car right now. Do you hear me?”

“I’m not going with you to whatever the hell this is.”

But it didn’t matter how much she said. One of the bodyguards got into the driver’s seat and started the car.

What Winter hadn’t expected even more was that Chris had taken her to the airport.

A black helicopter sat on the floodlit tarmac, the entire runway bright as day.

The moment the car door opened, the roar of the blades hit her.

As Chris stepped out, Winter bolted through the opposite door.
