The sound of running water came from the bathroom.

At the sink, blood mixed with the water and disappeared down the drain.

A phone began ringing in the bedroom.

The woman in the mirror moved her neck, then turned toward the sound. A few spots of blood still marked her

face.

The ringing continued for a long while.

Then the water stopped.

The room fell silent.

After a moment, a wet hand picked up the phone from the floor and answered.

The person on the other end said in a low voice, “I found something about the person you asked me to look into. A couple of days ago, Chris’s bodyguards escorted someone in and out of the hospital. I think that’s the person you’re looking for.”

“Who is it?” Skyla asked lightly.

“A stage actress.”

A flash of murderous intent crossed Skyla’s eyes.

A woman.

After Chris had brought her back to the country, he hadn’t spoken much to her. Apart from his relatively mild tone, his attitude toward her had always been distant.

But he had still agreed to give her the ruby bracelet, even though it was not the one that had belonged to Winter’s mother.

He had agreed to let her live in Westbury.

He had personally taken her to the hospital for checkups. When she said she had no appetite, he had even eaten with her once or twice.

Even with his cold and distant manner, she had still fallen for him completely.

That special treatment belonged to her.

How could he give it to any other woman?

Now another woman had appeared.

Just thinking about it made Skyla want to destroy her.

Skyla murmured, “Kill her…”

Chris could only use her blood.
