Chapter 371
Gavin followed Chris into the changing room. When he heard that, his cold eyes paused slightly.
“Yes, sir.”
Just then, the phone in his pocket vibrated.
He took it out and saw a new message.
Gavin didn’t open it. Instead, he handed the phone to Chris.
Chris had been wiping sweat away with a towel. His hand paused, and his eyes darkened slightly as he tapped the
message open.
It was from Winter.
“Roy, are you home?”
His fingertip brushed lightly over her profile picture. Then his thumb moved across the screen.
“Yeah. I was just about to go grocery shopping.”
Winter replied almost instantly.
“Stay where you are. Zion and I are coming over now.”
Chris held the phone and said calmly to Gavin, “I’m heading out.”
Gavin didn’t need to ask where he was going.
He nodded. “I’ll draft the clarification statement right away.”
Chris’s gaze was cool and unreadable. He said nothing more, changed his clothes, and left the changing room.
When Winter arrived at Roy’s door, she pressed the doorbell.
A moment later, Roy opened the door. He was dressed entirely in black, with a black baseball cap and a black mask covering his face.
He was leaning on a cane. His dark brown eyes swept over Winter’s face first before glancing casually at Zion.
Zion was already used to his aloof attitude. After stepping inside, he took off his shoes on his own.
“Roy, you’re finally back. Your leg’s still injured, so where have you been these past few days?”
Winter took two pairs of slippers from the shopping bag. One was a larger men’s pair, and the other was a smaller women’s pair. They were the same style in different colors, one light blue and one pink.
“I knew you didn’t have slippers at home,” she said. “So I picked up two pairs at the grocery store.”
She had just handed the light blue pair to Zion when Roy reached out and took them. Then he nudged off one of the gray slippers on his own feet and kicked it toward Zion.
Roy slipped his foot into the light blue slipper instead.
Zion didn’t mind. After putting on the gray slippers, he asked again, “So where did you go, Roy?”
Roy waited in the entryway until Winter had changed into her slippers. Then he took out his phone and typed a
