Chapter 377

The poisoned dart fell to the floor.

Gavin immediately stepped forward and grabbed the bodyguard’s hand. With his other hand, he yanked the tie from the man’s neck and quickly tied it around his wrist. Then he pulled a switchblade from his side.

There was no time to sterilize the blade. Gavin cut into the wound on the back of the bodyguard’s hand to let the poisoned blood drain out.

“Get him to the hospital now,” Gavin ordered the bodyguards at the door.

After they left, Gavin returned to the closet.

The safe was built into the inside of the wardrobe, tucked into a corner the light couldn’t reach.

But although the safe looked large from the outside, there wasn’t much space inside. The five poisoned darts on the floor should have been enough to fill it. There shouldn’t be any other hidden weapons.

Gavin tossed a flashlight into the safe.

Nothing happened.

The flashlight also lit up the inside of the safe completely.

There was a small box inside.

Gavin put on gloves, reached in, and took the box out. When he opened the lid, there was a single pill inside.

He wrapped the box in a tissue, put it into his pocket, and only then left Skyla’s room.

When he reached the first floor, Victor stood up and walked over to him.

Earlier, Gavin’s men had taken the injured bodyguard downstairs and rushed him to the hospital without giving anything away, so Victor had no idea anyone had been hurt.

He glanced at Gavin. “Did you get what you came for?”

Gavin gave a brief hum. “Sorry to disturb you, Mr. Jasper.”

Victor shook his head. “Not at all. I went to Westbury, where Skyla was staying, but it seems she isn’t living there anymore.”

Skyla’s bodyguards were gone. So was the caregiver.

When Gavin had taken his men to Westbury, the caregiver had been dead outside Skyla’s bedroom door.

She had been stabbed, and her mouth had been cut open afterward.

The method had been brutal enough that Gavin knew it had been Skyla’s doing.

Gavin knew exactly what Victor was trying to ask.

“The Zellers have been causing trouble for her. Mr. Xander has arranged for her to stay somewhere safe. You don’t need to worry, Mr. Jasper.”

After watching Gavin leave, Victor fell into thought.

He turned and went upstairs, then opened the door to Skyla’s room.

Before leaving, Gavin had already cleaned up the poisoned darts and the drops of blood on the floor. There was no visible trace of anything unusual.

Victor walked into the room. Nothing inside appeared to have been touched.

But from downstairs, he had clearly heard Gavin call out, “Careful!”

Victor searched Skyla’s room for quite a while, but he still couldn’t figure out what Gavin had taken from there. In the end, he had no choice but to leave.
