Dominic gently touched the little boy’s round head, then turned to the doctor.
“Why is he this weak?”
The moment the question left his mouth, Dominic realized how pointless it was.
If the child hadn’t been this weak, would Chris have hidden him for so long?
It had been a year. Judging by his condition, the little boy probably didn’t even have the strength to stand.
Then Dominic suddenly remembered that Chris had once said he needed Skyla’s bone marrow. At the time, Chris hadn’t said who it was for.
Now, looking at Harvey, Dominic had his answer.
“He needs a bone marrow transplant, doesn’t he?”
Dr. Lucas nodded. “Yes, and we don’t have much time.”
“Skyla’s bone marrow is still the only match? There’s no other donor?”
Dr. Lucas nodded heavily.
Dominic frowned, his expression grave. He held the bottle with one hand and supported the little boy’s head with
the other.
Skyla had been rescued, and now Winter had been taken.
This time, Chris had to bring Skyla back and rescue Winter too.
At that thought, Dominic couldn’t help looking at the little boy with an ache in his chest. Harvey was still drinking from the bottle, but he was already so tired he was about to fall asleep.
A gust of wind blew past.
The moon slipped halfway out from behind the clouds, spilling pale light over the mountain. Thin fog drifted over the peaks, and as far as the eye could see, the mountains rose and fell one after another.
Winter was pushed forward. The ground was covered in loose gravel, and her foot slipped. She had just managed to steady herself when Fabian grabbed her arm.
He turned his head and scolded the guard in a low voice. “Don’t be so rough with Ms. Scott. What’s wrong with walking a little slower?”
Winter yanked her arm free.
Fabian didn’t seem to mind. “If Chris hadn’t sealed off every exit out of Liono City, you wouldn’t have to suffer like this, Ms. Scott.”
“You kidnapped me to use me against Chris,” Winter said. “But it’s dark, and the road is slippery. If I misstep and fall off a cliff, all your effort tonight will be wasted.”
