The Scorned Heiress's Hidden Empire (by Jade Quinn) novel Chapter 446

Chapter 446

Dawn was close. A thin crescent moon hung at the edge of the sky, but before long, dark clouds swallowed it again.

After Winter woke up, William coaxed her for a long time before she finally took a sip of water. But almost as soon as she swallowed, she threw it back up.

Just then, someone knocked on the door.

Zion went to answer it and saw Roy standing outside in a black baseball cap and black mask. He wasn’t surprised. Roy’s injur hadn’t healed yet, so he couldn’t take on any jobs. Recently, he had been staying in Liono City. Before he left yesterday, he hi said he would come again.

“Ms. Scott, G is here.”

Winter leaned against the headboard and looked at the man standing in the doorway with a cane. The retching had strained h throat, and there were still tears in her eyes, but the light that used to be there was gone.

She said softly to William, “Aren’t you supposed to visit Grandpa at the care home today?”

William answered without thinking, “I can visit him any day. I’m staying with you today.”

The doctor had said she wasn’t cooperating with treatment. How could he possibly feel at ease leaving her?

Winter pressed her lips together, picked up the glass on the table, and took a sip to moisten her throat.

“When you come back, can you bring me one of those roast beef sandwiches?” she asked. “I kind of want one today.

Seeing her take a drink on her own and keep it down this time, William relaxed a little. Still, he wasn’t fully reassured.

“I’ll have someone buy it for you right now.”

“What are you so worried about?” Winter asked. “Zion and Roy are both here. Wendy will come by later too. I won’t be alone.”

William turned and glanced at Roy, who had walked in with his cane. He had never really seen Roy up close before. This was the first time they had been this close.

Roy was someone Zion had met during his years as a mercenary. He didn’t carry the heavy, blood–soaked edge that many mercenaries had, but there was still something about him that couldn’t be ignored.

William looked at him once, then turned back to Winter.

“Are you trying to get rid of me?”

“I’m trying to get you to relax a little,” Winter said. “When you’re this tense, it affects my mood too.”

Whether he relaxed or not didn’t matter. But he didn’t want to affect Winter’s mood. Besides, going to the care home would also reassure his grandfather.

All right,” he said. “I’ll bring you the roast beef sandwich when I come back.”

He stood and reminded Zion, “Take care of her. I’ll be back soon.”

“Don’t worry,” Zion said quickly. “G and I are here. G is amazing. He even got Ms. Scott to eat something yesterday

Although she had thrown it all up afterward.

William lifted his eyes and looked at the man who was slightly taller than him

For some reason, Roy gave him a strange sense of familiarity. At such a close distance, William telt something oddly similar

He gave Roy a slight nod, then left the room.
