Michael was momentarily stunned, but as soon as he realized what was happening, his anger flared even hotter. ‘How dare a cast off like her treat me with such disrespect and talk to me that way?‘
He stepped in front of Natalie again, but before he could say a word, a cold voice cut through the air from behind him. “What do you think you’re doing, Mr. Grant?”
Michael turned around, his face full of impatience. “Who the hell are you?”
But when he saw who was standing behind him, he froze, his attitude instantly shifting to nervous respect.
“M–Mr. Pierce?” Michael stammered.
Henry stood tall in a sharply tailored dark gray suit, his presence cold and intimidating, exuding an air that made the whole room feel a few degrees colder.
His eyes brushed over Michael and settled on Natalie, and the corners of his lips curled into a subtle, almost unnoticeable smile.
“Mr. Pierce, what brings you here? Are you here to see a patient, or…” Michael asked.
He thought Henry was smiling at him and hurried forward, but Lewis stepped in to block him.
Henry shifted his gaze from Natalie to Michael, his eyes icy and devoid of warmth. Instead of answering, he shot back a question. “So, what are you doing here, Mr. Grant?”
Michael forced himself to stay calm, swallowing nervously. “I didn’t expect you to remember me, Mr. Pierce. My father is sick and currently hospitalized.”
He was hoping to take this opportunity to ask Henry directly what went wrong with the project and why Pierce Group suddenly dropped them.
David got involved in the project with Pierce Group, thinking they had impressed them at first. They invested a huge amount of time and money, but at the very last step, Pierce Group said they weren’t satisfied and dismissed them.
The stress and anger got to David, and he ended up in the hospital.
But just as he was about to speak, Henry raised a hand to cut him off. “What were you doing here just now?”
Michael was thrown off by the sudden question. He opened his mouth, trying to say something, but Henry’s eyes were cold and emotionless, making Michael’s skin crawl.
L…“He instinctively took a half–step back. “I just saw someone I knew and wanted to say hello.”
“Someone you knew?” Henry echoed, his voice flat and cold, making Michael feel even more uneasy
Hergy’s tone remained icy. “That’s a rather unusual greeting, Mr. Grant. Lewis, cut off all business with Grant & Co.

Michael’s face went completely pale, totally blindsided by Henry’s sudden words.

Grant & Co. had always relied on their partnership with Pierce Group to get their cut, and that reputation was what made other companies want to do business with them.
Just losing their biggest project had already made David so furious that he ended up in the hospital. If all their projects got terminated, David would be furious beyond belief, and Michael would probably completely lose it, too.
“M–Mr. Pierce, why?” Michael stammered, his knees going weak.
Henry’s face remained icy and sharp, but for once, he actually replied. “I simply don’t like the way you greet people.”
Without another word, Henry walked right past Michael, ignoring him completely, and went straight to Natalie. His expression softened as he looked at her, concern replacing the icy look. “Are you feeling okay? Why are you here?”
Natalie shook her head. “I’m fine. Just here to see someone.”
Henry let out a breath, his face relaxing. “Alright, you heading out?”
Natalie nodded. “Yeah.”
“Need Lewis to give you a lift?” Henry asked.
“No, thanks. I drove myself,” Natalie said.
Henry nodded, stepping aside to clear her way. “Alright, I won’t hold you up.”

came today? To apologize to Dad and come back home?”
Michael pleaded, “Tell them we’re family. If you do, everything will be forgiven, and you’ll still be family.” He had thrown
all dignity out the window by now.
He was just clinging to the only straw he had left. ‘Whatever it takes, I need to make Natalie help, get Charles to take back what he said, and stop Henry from cutting them off. Grant & Co. couldn’t crash and burn on my watch.”
His lips quivered, and his eyes rimmed red. He looked truly desperate, like he meant every word, ready to break down right then and there.
Natalie tsked, her tone cold. “Who said I was here to see your dad?”
Michael froze, his expression blank, like he was frozen in place. “You… you’re not here to see my dad? Then why are you here?” he asked, his voice dry and uncertain.
Natalie ignored him, giving Henry and Charles a brief nod. “I’m heading out.”
Michael tried to follow her, but the security guards held him back, stopping him in his tracks.
Charles, Henry, and Lewis didn’t pay him any mind. They simply instructed the guards to clear out Room 1403 and then headed into the elevator.
Charles spoke up first, “Mr. Pierce… do you know Ms. Gardener?”
Henry frowned slightly. “Ms. Gardener?”
After leaving the hospital, Natalie stopped by a nearby store and bought a bottle of ice water. Standing by the curb, she chugged it all in one go and then casually tossed the empty bottle into the trash.
She grof in her car and drove toward a villa nestled halfway up a hillside in one of the city’s districts.
